UPSC One-Time Registration Facility Started

UPSC started the much-awaited one-time registration facility for the candidates applying online for any exam. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released a notification for the candidates. Till now, the candidates were required to register for the exam each time they apply for the exam. The UPSC registration and application were integrated for the exam and the candidates were required to fill both the forms separately.

By introducing a one-time registration facility, the candidates can register on the UPSC website independently and can apply for any number of exams where they fulfil the eligibility. As per the UPSC notice, the candidates can register with UPSC to apply for any exam. In most of the exams, 70 per cent of the personal information will be pre-populated for the candidate. The rest of the information will be required from the candidates' ends.

This will expedite the UPSC online application process and the candidates can fill the form swiftly. The OTR facility link will be available on the official website of UPSC and the online application website of UPSC –upsconline.nic.in.

This type of facility is already in place in the Staff Selection Commission exams where the candidates are required to register one time only and for each exam application, the candidates need to select the exam centre and upload a recent photograph and signature.

Why it was required?

This facility is required to minimise the duplication of the efforts of the candidates while applying online for the UPSC exam. It will minimise the errors in the personal details of the candidates and reduce the communication regarding the change in details.
