A 1992-batch IAS officer of the Manipur cadre, Vineet Joshi is also the Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Vineet Joshi, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education, has been assigned the charge of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Chairman, officials said on Monday.

According to the official reports, the development regarding the appointment of Vineet Joshi as chairman of CBSE came following relinquishing of charge by former CBSE Chairman Manoj Ahuja after he was appointed as the OSD in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The official order issued by the education ministry reads, "Consequent upon relieving of Shri Manoj Ahuja, IAS(OR:1990) from the post of Chairman, CBSE w.e.f 14.02.2022 (A/N) vide office order dated 14.02.2022, the charge of Chairman, CBSE is assigned to Shri Vineet Joshi, Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education in addition to his existing assignments. This issues with the approval of the competent authority."
