Coronavirus: coaching classes cancelled, competitive exam preparation goes online

As a precautionary measure against COVID-19, coaching institutes have cancelled all their classes. However, they are providing online classes to candidates to prepare for the competitive exams.

The curbs announced in Delhi following the outbreak of Coronavirus are nowhere close to crippling shutdowns in some of the affected countries. The life in the National Capital has changed dramatically with the closure of schools, colleges, universities, cinema halls, malls and coaching institutes. The outbreak has not only affected the industries and business but also the students.

Now, the candidates aspiring for Civil Services, NDA and other competitive exams are worried a lot. As part of measures to combat the spread of coronavirus, coaching institutes in New Delhi are shut down. Given the ongoing health crisis in the country, the coaching institutes are offering online classes to its candidates so that they can prepare during the days leading to their exam.

Lakhs of candidates apply for the competitive exams such as Civil Services, NDA, CGL, CHSL, banking exams, etc. Any many aspirants take personal coaching and practice tests.

COVID-19: Preparation Module of Coaching Institutes

Talking to Shiksha regarding the preparation module, a Delhi-based coaching institute who trains candidates for CDS, NDA and AFCAT said, “As a precautionary measure, we have cancelled all our classes till March 31. The classes will be reopened only if the situation improves. To help candidates with their preparation, we are providing online classes. Candidates can download the app and take classes. Moreover, they can also interact with teachers.”

Another Bengaluru based coaching institute said, “We prepare candidates for defence exams. As the situation is not good and compiling with the government advisories, all the classes have been cancelled. NDA exam is scheduled to be conducted on April 19 and we need to prepare candidates for the exam. Therefore, we have provided candidates test series which they can take when the classes are not taking place.”

Another Delhi based coaching that prepares candidates for Civil Services said, “We are planning to resume classes from April 1 if everything is fine. We have 30 batches in total. We are offering video tutorials to students so that they can prepare for the exam and are not left behind.”

Another Delhi based coaching institute for Civil Services said, "We have to cancel our classes due to COVID-19. However, candidates are provided classes virtually."
