IIT Kanpur clarifies documents and 'change of category' related queries for IIT JAM 2020 admission form

IIT Kanpur clarified documents and 'change of category' related queries raised by the candidates for IIT JAM 2020 admission process. Read here to know more.   

The online applications for IIT JAM 2020 admission have begun from April 20 onwards and, IIT Kanpur has released a notification for the process. However, candidates are still raising queries regarding the 'required documents' and request to change the category in the IIT JAM 2020 admission form. Therefore, the exam authority has clarified all such queries by publishing a notification as under:

The exam authority has also specified that the last date of required documents pertaining to eligibility - Septemeber 30, 2020, is for submitting documents at the admitting institutes i.e. after seat allotment is completed. 

IIT Kanpur has clarified in the admission brochure that in case 'non-availability/ arrangement of some documents due to COVID-19, candidates have to fill and upload the 'undertaking' form as available on the homepage of IIT JAM 2020. Check the notification below: 

Candidates need to upload the following documents in pdf file format during the IIT JAM 2020 admission form fill up: 

• Class 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates 
• Qualifying degree mark sheets of all semesters
• Nationality certificates such as a Birth certificate or Voter ID or First page of Passport or School Transfer Certificate or Aadhaar Card as issued. 
• Category certificates - respective certificates as issued for OBC-NCL/ EWS/ SC/ ST category
• PWD certificate for Persons with Disability 

Candidates need to scan and save the files as pdf to upload it successfully. Nationality documents such as Ration Card, Driving License, College/ Institute/ School ID, Bank Passbook, PAN Card, Mark sheets are not applicable. 

IIT Kanpur has also specified the same in the admission brochure - "To facilitate timely admission process, JOAPS portal will ask such candidates to fill an undertaking that they will submit any missing documents before a later deadline. Any admission offer to such candidates, if made, will be strictly provisional.

A template of the undertaking is provided at the admission portal. A candidate must fill the undertaking in CAPITAL LETTERS, except for the signature. The candidate must submit a filled, signed and scanned copy of the undertaking. A scan of the handwritten copy of the undertaking is also acceptable."

The request for rectification of documents and change of category will be accepted until May 15, 2020, only.
