Q:   How effective is the placement cell for M.Sc. courses at Central University of Punjab?

    A:
    {Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for M.Sc. Courses at Central University of Punjab

Unfortunately, the placement cell at Central University of Punjab seems to be ineffective for M.Sc. courses. Here's what students and alumni have shared:

    * "There is no placement cell." - Multiple students
    * "Neither anyone will help you to get placed." - One student
    * "No one cares about the placement cell." - Another student
    * "Our dean is not good and not able to take up companies." - Student
    * "There is no placement training on this campus." - Student
    * "The university doesn't have any working placement cells. They fooled students by showing in their brochure." - Student

These comments suggest that the university lacks a functional placement cell, and students may need to rely on their own efforts to find employment after graduation. Additionally, some students reported that the administration does not prioritize or effectively utilize the placement cell, leading to limited opportunities for students.

It appears that the placement cell is underutilized and ineffective, leaving students without sufficient support in finding suitable job opportunities after completing their M.Sc. degrees.

    M.Sc. in Chemistry - Batch of 2024

Overall best University for M.Sc. In Chemistry Course.
Placements: The college has a good reputation with employers, and more than 80% of students are placed each year. The highest package available is 21 LPA, and the typical package size is 14 LPA. 79% of students receive job prospects. Some of the top recruiters include SGS India, Intertek, and Bureau Veritas. My course offers careers such as Quality Control Analyst and Formulation Chemist.
Infrastructure: The university has a good infrastructure for courses. The classrooms are equipped with mixed technology, and there are large computer labs with software licenses. The two-story library has some good books but is lacking in textbooks. The hostel is well located inside the campus, but only the two top students in each batch can stay there. The food is good, but the menu is pretty much the same every week.
Faculty: All of the professors are PhDs with extensive knowledge in their subjects. The teaching methods are very different from other universities I've attended. The curriculum is solid and prepares students for careers, but there is still room for improvement. The courses are challenging but not overly difficult. The pass rate is over 70%.

    Eyewitness for the college.
Placements: The percentage placed from this course is 75%. The package depends on the skills of the students. 80% of students get internships. The industries want interns to check their waste products to see if they are damaging the environment or not. They want interns to be environmental consultants and lab assistants.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and library are good. There is a separate building under construction, especially for the library. The facilities of the library are good; many books are there. The good thing is that you can search for the required book online and then take it from the library itself.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality is good. The faculty are more focused on publishing papers in journals. They help you so much whenever you are stuck with anything. Passing the semester examination is not that difficult. 98% is the pass percentage.
Other: I chose this course because I want to be an environmental consultant. The best thing is that you will learn about the changes happening in the environment. For improvement, there must be some innovative work started here. Events are done by students. Scholarships are available.

M.Sc. in Microbiology from CU Punjab, which offers good facilities and qualified faculty.
Placements: Placements and internship opportunities were offered to the students at CU Punjab. Every year, around 30–35% of the students gets placed in our course. The average package offered was between 3 and 5 LPA. The top recruiting companies for our course were various labs and research hubs, such as Eureka, Verka, RD, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was good for the microbiology course. The college had proper lab facilities for the practical knowledge of the students. All the necessary facilities, such as the canteen, Wi-Fi, library, hostel, sports and medical facilities, were provided to the students. All these facilities were of good quality at CU Punjab.
Faculty: The faculty of the college was really helpful and supportive of the students. All the teachers were highly qualified and knowledgeable. They were experienced and experts in their respective subjects. Teachers were making us understand both theoretical and practical concepts. The course curriculum at CU Punjab was relevant and made the students industry-ready. The exams were not that hard to pass.

Extremely student-friendly campus with good infrastructure and brilliant education.
Placements: Approximately 10% of the students were placed. The highest we got was a package of 12 Lacs PA and the lowest was 4 Lacs PA. Placement related to our course was very low, and students were enrolled in companies like Jubilant Pharma, NXT Wave, etc. Almost 30% of students got internships, and most of them got in top institutes like AIIMS, IISER, IIT, etc.
Infrastructure: Everything listed above were present with fully air-conditioned labs for single faculty members. Hostels had all the required amenities, including pantry and laundry but hostels were not adequate to accommodate the whole strength of the university. More hostels are required to solve this problem. In future, bringing air-conditioned rooms will be a relief during summer. Three mess halls, along with some stuck shops, are present, where you can get stationery, snacks, etc. Sports and games are also well encouraged on campus .
Faculty: Teachers were well qualified, took regular classes and were helpful in every aspect of academics. Our course had the latest updated syllabus and didn't have any unwanted stuff to study. It was crisp and clear, aligning with the syllabus of competitive exams. Semester exams are moderately difficult, which is good for us.
Other: I chose M.Sc. Zoology because I was interested in the subject and wanted to pursue a career as a teacher.

    Good campus for PG.
Placements: Around 40 seats were available in our course, but there were 32 students enrolled in our batch. There weren't many placements in my course, as most students pursue a Ph.D. after this PG course. The course is of 2 years and is divided into 4 semesters.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the department was very good, which includes a personal lab with many computers and Wi-Fi facilities. There is also one computer center that can be operated by any student from any department. The hostel was good.
Faculty: Teachers took regular classes with active participation from students. The course was divided into four semesters, and there were exams in the first three semesters, every 5–6 months. However, the fourth semester was quite different; we had to write a thesis.
Other: The best thing that I felt for my course was the thesis part, where we could use our own field of interest and work on that. We learned a lot of new things, and practical aspects included some coding, which was taught well. The campus was well known for events and extracurricular activities, and students were highly active in participation.

All you need to know about Central University of Punjab .
Placements: A total of 20 students were in the batch. There was no placement opportunity for us, but the technical courses provide placement opportunities. A lot of students got internships in IIT Delhi, AIIMS Bathinda, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Medgenome, etc. Research associate, genome analyst, and research assistant are the roles offered to students in our course.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure was average, as they can do a lot better, but the labs were well-equipped, the classrooms were equipped with projectors, and the library was equipped with a lot of books. The hostels could have been better but they're not the worst.
Faculty: The teachers were very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable, and their teaching was good. The curriculum for the course was what I liked the most. They have 3 semesters for theory and practical courses and one whole semester is dedicated to the thesis work, which helps in the practical application of what you studied in the course.
Other: I had a strong interest in genetics; that's why I chose the course. The course teaches a lot about the practical application of genetics in the medical field. There should be placements offered to students who want to go into industry. The campus was not that crowded and the fests were also okay. There are many scholarships offered to students, which you can apply for. There are also part-time jobs available for students in the library and administrative departments.
