LIFE AT NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY SHIMLA
Placements: In the past few years, the placement in the college has actually not been so good. Most of the students coming to the college are inclined towards the judiciary. Although a few students have grabbed good offers from good law firms, being a tier 3 college, placements are not excellent. However, with time, the college is trying its best to bring in good law firms, so it might improve in the future.
Infrastructure: Our college is actually situated in the hills, so you can't expect very lavish infrastructure, but there is almost everything that one needs. The sports infrastructure is not so good. Talking about the hostels, the college has just one hostel of its own for the first-year girls, whereas the other one is under construction. All the other hostels are in rented buildings near the campus.
Faculty: The faculty is pretty good. The college is very serious about academics and has good professors with good skills. The curriculum is very relevant and well-designed, somewhat similar to Delhi University. The semester exams are not very tough; the college is actually trying to test our critical thinking skills.
Other: I chose this course because I wish to be a political analyst, and getting a law degree from a national university would help me a lot in this. Our life is very happening here. The campus is extremely beautiful and serene. The campus has a variety of crowds, and you'll enjoy your life here.

Amazing experience of learning law in the Himalayas.
Placements: Placements are average in this University. It is a newly established university among the Family of National Law Universities. The Assistance Cell is working hard to place the students at good law firms and provide internship opportunities at good law firms for students. Most students opt for higher studies, stressing less about getting placements as of now. The highest package offered recently was 18 LPA. Many students receive Pre-Placement offers from Law Firms like Singh and Associates, Lakshikumaran and Sridharan, Indus Law, etc. One thing that should be kept in mind is that this is still a tier 3 NLU; hence, getting placed is based on your caliber and potential, one should not rely entirely on the University for the same.
Infrastructure: The University infrastructure is well suited to the hilly terrain of the Himalayas. There are two blocks in the University for Academic and Administrative purpose. There is only one hostel for girls at the university, and the other one is under construction. Boys hostels are rented and located outside the periphery of the University. Boys' hostels are, however, average as compared to the girls' hostel. Basic amenities like Fan, Light, Geyser and wardrobe are provided to the residents. There are separate mess in the hostels and one at the university. There are two cafeterias in the hostel. Since the college is situated on hilly terrain, it is not well suited for many games. However, many games are being played in the university, such as Futsal, Badminton, Cricket, Basketball, and indoor games such as chess, carrom, table tennis, etc. The university also hosts an annual sport festival. The campus, along with hostels situated outside, are Wi-Fi enabled, with classrooms being well furnished and equipped with both audio and visual equipment.
Faculty: The faculty is well experienced, as many of them are from well-reputed colleges in the country. Most of the teachers hold Ph.D.s and are UGC NET qualified; their stress is more on imparting value and practical knowledge to the students along with good theoretical application. Exams are conducted every three months to test the students; the curriculum is well-suited to the needs of the students, with equal emphasis on learning law and social sciences. It makes the student industry ready. Attendance is something that should be taken care of at this university, as there are strict provisions regarding this, with the mandatory attendance being 70%. Semester exams are moderately difficult, and one can pass them if you are sincere at studies.
Other: I chose this course as I was passionate about pursuing a career in law, advocating for people's rights. There are a lot of events in this university that are on par with the expectations of the student's connectivity. The university is well connected by the roads, as it is located at the Shimla Mandi Highway. One can reach it directly by bus or private vehicle. There are many eateries and restaurants in the area nearby, along with beautiful foothills of the Himalayas. The nearest market is Dhami, which is located at a very short distance.

The reality of national law university, Shimla (hpnlu).
Placements: The placements offered by the college are minimal; only 10 companies offered placements last year. The top companies were SVS attorneys, Optimus Legal, and SNG & Partners. The percentage of students getting placed is also minimal—15–25%. The highest ever package offered is INR 18 LPA and the minimum is INR 5 LPA. From BBA to LL.B., at least 20% of students per year get placed. The roles offered are legal internships, and internships are mostly brought by the students and placements are often provided outside of campus; hence, the maximum number of students get internships but not from the college.
Infrastructure: The campus is fully furnished and technically advanced; the hostels and mess are also clean and the quality of food offered by the mess is average and reasonable. There is a library comprising more than 1000 books that is spacious enough. The college and hostels are properly equipped with Wi-Fi and bus facilities are also there. The medical facilities are poor but the sports committee is good. We have opportunities to explore sports as we have a table tennis court, a volleyball court, a badminton court and a half basketball court. The canteen is also average.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified and helpful, and the teaching quality is good the faculty is young and permanent. The curriculum is somewhat similar to the rest of the NLUs, but its relevance and industry readiness cannot be guaranteed. The semester exams are very easy and the pass percentage is 33%.
Other: The best thing about the course is that it is a 5-year law course, hence saving a year. Also, this course is valuable as it is offered by an NLU. The course could have been relevant to the current legal scenario and ought to have been taught with real-life practical insights rather than sheer theory. The events are very rare, the campus life is not that attractive, and connectivity is bad due to geographical limitations.

Infrastructure and hostel facilities are not good yet.
Placements: Placement was at the highest till 18 Lacs. Students get internship and good placements there. Internships in Suran& Suran even luthra&luthra have been secured by our college students. They also good in moot and ADR. People of recent final years have got placed in syndicates securing a package of 13 Lacs p. a.
Infrastructure: Mess food is not good. They charge 40/- per meal but not worth it. We have a library where only 12 people can seat. We have limited books there. Wi-Fi connection is not available in every corner of college. Hostels are at very bad conditions. Only 1 girls hotel is there rest are rented.
Faculty: Faculty are good and do their best. Court curriculum and syllabus are not designed good. Some time it is burdensome. Without starting from basics. We have to directly understand high concepts. Faculty try their best. But the subjects of faculty are not assigned according to their specialisation.
Other: Crowd is good. People are fighting in name of seniors. Juniors are treated bad. If someone stands against it then also the victims are targeted.

The university is in a nascent stage. It will reach the utmost height in the coming time.
Placements: Not even 5% of the total students were placed. The highest package was 8 LPA. This was offered by Singh and Associates. Around 80% of the total students are indulged in an internship. But an internship is not provided by the University. The students have to arrange their internship.
Infrastructure: As of now, the college's hostel is under construction. The students are living in rented hostels for the time being. One should not expect a lavish infrastructure as the college is situated in hilly terrain. All the basic facilities like Wi-Fi, Labs, Classrooms, and library are available. The quality of the hostel is at par with the survival as in one room there are 4 individuals. Quality of food relates to the general scenario of all Indian colleges i.e., average food. One should have to travel 7 km to get basic medical diagnosis and checkups. One should not expect any kind of sports facilities as the terrain is hilly. Some indoor games are there such as Table tennis and carrom board.
Faculty: Teachers here will give you a basic idea but to get deep knowledge, you have to make your efforts. The course is pretty much the same as other NLUs and will help students to suit well in life. Exams are pretty much easy and almost all the students pass with average marks.

Review of Himachal Pradesh National Law University.
Placements: The placement and internship cell pf our college often conducts seminars related to CV Building, skilled development, etc. It also forwards emails regarding internships at different firms. Many students apply to different firms themselves. The cell has produced an introductory pdf of all the final-year students, primarily focusing on their experiences, skills, achievements, etc. on LinkedIn.
Infrastructure: The college and all the hostels are equipped with Wi-Fi services. The classrooms and hostel rooms are well furnished and cleaned regularly. Each hostel features a mess. The college has a library and a reading room. The college allows to provide an e-library, which is very vast. The hostels provide all the essential services, like washing machines and almirahs. There is even a common room in one hostel. There are many dhabas, cafes, and essential shops nearby. The quality of the food can be proved to a great extent. The lunch and snacks served are really good. The university has a volleyball court, badminton court, cricket ground, and sports room. A doctor sits in the university regularly. There is a canteen, a campus cafe, and a stationary shop on the campus itself.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are helpful and well qualified. They are all very knowledgeable and always try to bring practical knowledge to the classrooms. The course curriculum is relevant too. We are provided reading material continuing case laws, judgements, opinions, and articles by our law faculty each semester. The syllabus is updated each academic year. The students are expected to read the required document before the class. It depends on how we use this knowledge and apply it in the practical field. The semester exams are not at all difficult if you make proper notes and pay attention in the class. Mostly all the students are able to pass the exams.
