Q:   Is it worth pursuing M.A. at HPU?

A:
{Source: M.A. students & alumni}

After analyzing the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of what they have to say:

Pros:

* Knowledgeable faculty: Most reviewers praised the professors' knowledge and willingness to help students.
* Good infrastructure: The campus has modern amenities like Wi-Fi, smart classrooms, and a large library.
* Cultural activities: The university hosts cultural festivals and encourages students to participate in various competitions.
* High placement rate: Around 80% of students in the reviewer's batch got placed, although some may require additional qualifications.
* Affordable fees: With a relatively low annual fee of INR20,000, many students found it feasible to pursue the course.

Cons:

* Teaching methodology: Some reviewers felt that the teaching style could use improvement, suggesting more innovative approaches like using projectors.
* Limited direct placements: While most students got placed, some noted that these opportunities might arise outside of the college's efforts.

Verdict: Pursuing an M.A. at HPU seems worth considering, particularly for those interested in the field of English literature. Although some areas could use improvement, the university's strong faculty, good infrastructure, and affordable fees make it an attractive option. However, students should be aware that limited direct placements may exist, and they might need to explore alternative career paths or further education.

Review of HPU University, Shimla.
Placements: At HPU, the highest salary package offered was 11 LPA and the average salary package offered was 3.5 LPA. Students must have a CGPA of 7 in all semester exams to get placements.
Infrastructure: The library on campus was so large and almost all the books and journals were available. A huge and hygienic canteen, a daycare facility on request, indoor and outdoor playing courts, and a sports area were available on campus. Free school bus service was provided by HPU college for all students. It had a large ground for cricket and all HPU cricket matches were played in that playground.
Faculty: There were a total of 106 faculty members and a total of 1560 students at this university. All professors of this college were very knowledgeable and the teaching method was unexpected. This college was affiliated with HPU and HPU conducts all exams timely. The RGPV exam was not difficult if you attend all lectures of the college. You can pass easily RGPV exams and college mid-term exams.
Other: I chose M.A. in English course in this college because its fee was very less compared to other colleges in Himachal and has high scope. After getting a degree, I want to join a job in Infosys and improve my skill and ideas for making my own companies. The fee of this college is Rs.20000/year and there was a fee hike policy of 10% on dues fees. If you did not pay your fee on time then the college put a 10% fine on your dues fees. Many types of scholarships were approved by our college like the national scholarship and the Bihar scholarship. MPTAAS scholarship-based admission is also available in this college. HPU provides numerous opportunities for extracurricular activities to enrich the students' cultural interests. The college fest was conducted on campus. The cultural committee of the group encouraged the students to take part in a wide variety of cultural competitions such ad singing, dancing, debating, creative writing, etc., and hosted various cultural activities. The college had no social groups, clubs, or websites for the students to run. The campus is totally anti-ranging.

The college is good, and the placements are also good.
Placements: Almost 80% of students were placed in my course. The highest package offered is about 1.5 Lacs, the lowest salary is about 30,000, and the average package is about 60,000. Almost all of my course friends went in line of education, and I believe that all my friends became ideal teachers.
Infrastructure: Our hostel has free Wi-Fi. The college has a science lab. The library has AC facilities as well. There is a mess, and it offers high-quality food for students. A sports room is available, and an indoor stadium is also available.
Faculty: The college recruits highly-qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They are very helpful to students. Semester exams are not so hard because teachers in our college teach in a way that almost all the students pass the exams. Students also teach and help each other with their problems.
Other: I chose this course because I have an interest in this course.

Genuine and point to point .
Placements: Not that good for placement, but good for saving money. Also, if you are thinking about placement from campus, then there are other well-known colleges that provide better placement facilities. It is also not good for those who need placement in bigger firms.
Infrastructure: Hostel: I don't say anything about the hostel because I am local and have no experience with hostel life, but in my opinion, hostels are not good. My friends are living in PG accommodations in the city, so rooms in the city or PG are quite preferable for them. So, find the best PG for you.
Faculty: I'm not the type of student who takes an interest in co-curricular activities, but I think there are way more activities than I heard about. Also, cultural activities are very good there, so there is a need to participate in activities. I think NCC students are always busy with their activities.
Other: Fee is good, environment is pretty good also the best .

East or west HPU is the best with amazing facilities and faculty members.
Placements: I feel so proud for passing through this university. I have done my M.A. history from this university. It was really a great experience for me. I learnt a lot from here and it was all useful for me. Students here were great percentage of marks, around 70% to 90% students from here are under internships.
Infrastructure: Here the campus was fully Wi-Fi enabled and labs, classrooms and library was also fully Wi-Fi enabled and smart library also here. A great canteen, medical facilities and sports, gym and other games are introduced here. We celebrated every day here.
Faculty: The teachers here are full of knowledge, qualified and are very helpful for students. Quality of teaching here is very high level teaching. The curriculum was very good here and was based on interest and abilities on students. I loved this university.

I am happy to be a part of the university.
Placements: We do not get direct placements from the college. We need to clear competitive exams in order to get a good and regular job. The exposure in the university helped a lot in building my knowledge regarding the field, and I am sure it will help me in clearing my competitive exams in future.
Infrastructure: The university has provided well-established labs and classrooms. The campus is huge, with a decent library and good quality food is also available. I did not face any infrastructure-related issues. Our university also gives due attention to sports and games.
Faculty: The university has provided helpful and qualified teachers. They have helped a lot in giving us knowledge regarding our fields. They used various methods to make us learn new things easily and comprehensively. The course curriculum was very helpful.

Overall the college good by location and infrastructure as well.
Placements: There were no as such direct placements in our college we had to wait for the entrance exams or prepare for post-graduation. Only we get jobs if the state government conducts commission exams, if not, we have to change our field, or we have to start a private practice.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure wise college is good. There is a canteen which provides good, hygienic and cheap food as per the students' comfort. Even college has a good campus. There is a library and other facilities like Wi-Fi. The college also organises cultural activities from on time.
Faculty: Faculty members here were good and had enough knowledge. Faculty were always ready to help every student at any time. Even the college provides residence for staff so that students can get help at any time from the faculty. Teaching methods were also average, but they need to change and start something new techniques like using projectors and all.
Other: The college organises events from on time. The campus is also good.
