Review of Training Ship Chanakya.

Placements: Training Ship Chanakya is the successor of Training ship Dufferin and Training ship Rajendra. Thus it is one of the oldest maritime training institutes in India. Currently, the institute runs B.Sc. in nautical science course, and it is a 3-year degree course. The college is affiliated with Indian Maritime University. The placement scenario in the college is quite improved from the past few years for the year 2020. Around 80% of the candidates got campus placements. The major companies visiting t...

It is quite a great college, with great infrastructure and placements.

Placements: The placement rate of the 2020 passed out batch was more than 85%. Packages depend on the company and which ship you are assigned. FML, Synergy, Anglo, Chevron, MOL, NYK, Home, etc., companies came here. 85% of students got internships in the above-mentioned companies as well as BSM, Shell etc. The top role is the captain, and after that, you can become the extra master.

There were good placements in 2019-2020, a really huge area and enjoyable college life.

Placements: As far as the placements are concerned, you don't need to worry about the fact that the institute might not help, which is the case with most government colleges. Although placements are not guaranteed here, the director sir has a prime concern that every eligible student gets a chance to attend placement interviews. Students must be above average in their studies to get placements. From our batch, about 100% of students got placed out of around 145 students. Even if you don't get campus placeme...

Our college is good and will improve in the future, and I still hope it will not worsen.

Placements: About 95% of the students will get placed till the following year. Companies like FML, MOL, NYK, Synergy Shipping, Dockendale, Exmar, and many more visit our college. On average, if the student is good or at least average in studies and has no AT and KT, and if they have good orating and communication skills, they can get placed.

It is the place where anybody can learn how to become an officer and cherish the moments of life.

Placements: The placement rate of this college is almost 70-80%. The salary offered is about 600-700$ per month. This college only offers a degree in B.Sc. nautical science and diploma in nautical science. So all companies visiting the campus are very good and have an overseas business because it belongs to the shipping industry.

One of the maritime colleges in India, maintaining its legacy from years.

Placements: About 60 to 65% of cadets got placed in different shipping companies like FML, NYK, Seaarland, MOL, etc. last year. Placements in the college are not that good in comparison to different private colleges. Salary packages offered by companies are different from company to company. The stipend offered in cadetship is about 400$ to 600$. The campus comprises of a placement cell. Most of the cadets are placed in FML which is one of the mass recruiters of this college.

Good faculty, Unsatisfactory placements and more focus on practical knowledge is required.

Placements: Unsatisfactory, at best. The percentage of placement was around 35 percent out of a batch of 150. Although most cadets are academically sound, and only a very few of them hold backlogs. The companies prefer to go to the private colleges in the maritime sector, for reasons known only to them.

Out of 150 cadets each year around 60-70% manage to get placed on campus each year. Some of the world's leading Merchant Navy companies like NYK, MOL, PIL, FML recruit from this campus.

I am satisfied with my college facilities and placements.

Placements: Before 2012, Placement was very good in our college. More than 200%. But after that placement percentage has been decreasing and decreased to 50% in last year. But nowadays our director has been changed and placement percentage is increasing and I hope that it will be very good at our time.

Infrastructure is good, but the management and administration are the worst.

Placements: Placements in the college are not good. There was a time when Chanakya campus students got 100% placement, but nowadays things are changed because of insanely increasing private training institutes in India. The director of T.S.Chanakya J. K Dhar is a big reason for the bad placement condition of T.S.Chanakya.

Companies such as NYK, FML, MOL, PIL visited our campus. The highest salary offered was 800$ per month while the lowest was 400$. The situation there is improving these days. The placement cell has started taking matters in their hands. I hope a better future for this institution.
