GNIT Organises EUPHONIOUSXZYZZVA 2K24

April 5, 2024: EUPHONIOUSXZYZZVA 2K24, an inter-institutional cultural competition and GNIT Cultural Fest, was organized by Guru Nanak Institute of Technology and featured a variety of artistic manifestations.
The festival's program included a wide range of activities, such as the inter-institutional dance competition Mudra, the band competition Collision, the singing competition Gandhar, the theatrical competition Prangan, the recitation competition Wings of Words, and the fashion competition The Red Carpet.
EUPHONIOUSXZYZZVA 2K24 turned out to be an incredible showcase of skill, culture, and teamwork. The lively performances and exhibitions enthralled both participants and attendees, creating priceless memories and a strong sense of solidarity among all those involved.

JIS University's Dr. Dipankar Ghosh Delivers Invited Talk at International Conference

Apr 3, 2024: Dr. Dipankar Ghosh, Associate Professor and PI of the Microbial Engineering & Algal Biotechnology Laboratory (MEAB) at JIS University, Kolkata, delivered an invited talk on "Algae for Industrial Applications" at an International Conference held on March 22nd and 23rd, 2024. The conference focused on the current status of cancer and other emerging diseases, including treatment options and homa therapy. In addition to Dr. Ghosh's talk, MEAB team members Mr. Sayan Adhikary and Ms. Srijaa Sau presented scientific posters at the event. JIS University congratulates Dr. Ghosh and his MEAB research team on their achievements.

JIS Organises Conclave on "Entrepreneurs – Born or Made"  

March 4, 2024: Under the theme "Entrepreneurs - Born or Made," the JIS Entrepreneurship Conclave got underway at the Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata with a ceremonial lamp lighting led by Smt. Jaspreet Kaur, Director – JIS Group; Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director – JIS Group; and Shri. Sunil Chandra Saha and Shri. Nitesh Singh, Co-founders of Blue Tea, as well as Prof. Dr. Soumen Banerjee, Principal of NiT, and Prof (Dr.) Swarup Kumar Mitra, Principal of GNIT. Director, JIS Group Speaks at 3rd Edtech Summit

September 27, 2023: Speaking at the third EdTech Summit in Kolkata, which was put on by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and focused on "Shaping the Future of Education through EdTech," Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Co-Chairman of the ICC National Expert Committee on Higher Education & Training and Director of the JIS Group.

In his speech to the summit, Dr Subhas Sarkar, the Hon'ble Minister (MOS) of the Indian Government's Ministry of Education, stated, "I have noticed that the National Education Policy, together with its educational initiatives, is playing a crucial role in reforming India. Modern education's emergence has broadened our understanding and viewpoints by opening up new vistas. The National Education Policy's blending of conventional wisdom and cutting-edge information is encouraging. JIS Group Organises Innovative Business Plan Competition

August 10, 2023: Students from the JIS Group of Educational Initiatives pitched their business plans as part of the "Made in JIS Celeb Edition" event, which was held by the group's educational initiatives. Participants competed for prizes and support for their ventures. The JIS Group's forty participating teams from various educational institutions presented their business plans. A distinguished team of judges, including Subham Raj Sharma, Co-Founder of Webingo, Sunil Chandra Saha, CEO of Blue Tea, Dhiman Das, Director of K C Das, renowned filmmaker Pavel, and  Avelo Roy, MD of Kolkata Ventures, judged the student business concepts during the competition's finals. On this occasion, Jaspreet Kaur was also there. The judges evaluated the presentations by student entrepreneurs and assessed their business ideas, skills, and potential for success. JIS University Celebrates its 3rd Convocation with Remarkable Placement of Its Students in Global IT Organisations 

August 4, 2023: JIS University had its third grand convocation, a major occasion to honour the achievements of its graduating students in terms of academic brilliance and record-breaking placement in some of the largest global IT businesses. Sardar Taranjit Singh, honorary Chancellor of JIS University and Managing Director of JIS Group, officially opened the ceremony, which was held on the NIT-JIS University Campus. Prof. Arup Kumar Raychaudhuri, SERB Distinguished Fellow, Prof. Partha S. Ghosh, Professor of Practise at Tufts University in the United States, and Prof. G.L. Dutta, Professor Emeritus, IIT Kharagpur, Policy Advisor, Governing Body Member, JIS group, were among the distinguished guests in attendance. Honourable Vice-Chancellor of JIS University Prof. Bhabes Bhattacharya delivered the convocation report.

The convocation ceremony honoured students from various Departments of JIS University, including the School of Engineering, School of Management Studies, School of Pharmaceutical Technology, School of Sciences, School of Education, School of Juridical Science, School of Hospitality & Hotel Administration, and JIS Institute for Advanced Studies & Research (JISIASR). This year, a total of 1028 students were conferred Degrees and Diplomas at various levels. 693 students received their UG Degrees, 228 PG Degrees, 102 Diplomas, and 5 Ph.D. degrees. The outstanding academic performance of 40 students was recognised by conferring them with gold medals, 30 students were awarded silver medals, and 22 graduates received bronze medals for their exceptional achievements.

Aman Giri (B.Tech-CSE) received Josh Technologies' highest offer of 18 LPA, creating an excellent standard for achievement. The Honourable Chancellor of JIS University and Managing Director of the JIS Group, Sardar Taranjit Singh, gave a speech at the event and said, "At JIS University, we take enormous satisfaction in the achievements of our graduating students, who have shown amazing endurance and dedication. The program was held at The Park Hotel on the 3rd and 4th of February 2023, to focus on bringing innovation to the education system. BITM Organises Science & Engineering Fair 2023

January 18, 2023: Every year, the Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM) sponsors the Science & Engineering Fair to inspire students enrolled in Engineering programmes, Science programmes, and Universities to develop original projects in a variety of fields related to science and engineering.

The Science & Engineering Fair for this year was held at BITM from January 10 to January 13, 2023. At this fair, students from various engineering institutions, science colleges, and universities took part.

General Manager JIS Group Educational Initiatives to visit Bangladesh

March 22, 2022: The General Manager of JIS Group Educational Initiatives, India, is on his Bangladesh visit. During his tour, he will take part in the SAPE Indian Education Fair, which will be hosted in Dhaka and Chittagong.

Majumder further expressed a desire to meet with Ex-Students (Alumni) from Bangladesh as well as those currently enrolled in various courses at JIS Group (MAKAUT) or JIS University.

With over 39,000 students and more than 2 lakh alumni, the JIS Group is one of the major Educational Groups in Eastern India.

In particular, four JIS colleges have received NIRF rankings for 2021. These are NIT, GNIPST, GNIT, and JISCE in Kolkata, as well as Nadia.

FICCI organises 15th Edition of Higher Education Summit

December 2, 2019: FICCI Higher Education Summit was organised at Vigyan Bhavan from Nov 27-29. The 15th edition of the three-day event was dedicated to cover Creative Economy-Nation Building: Higher Education as a catalyst. It was an international event on Higher Education, jointly organised by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and FICCI.
More than 1,250 Indian and foreign university presidents, vice chancellors, deans and other participants from Africa, Middle East, SAARC, CIS, Canada, the USA, and the UK, etc., participated at the conference. JIS University was a major partner in this summit. In its exhibition pavilion, JIS had a series of meetings with more than 127 educationists and vendors during these three days.

University Hosts Skill Exposition 2019

November 18, 2019: JIS University hosted two-day Skill Exposition event, SKILLX’19 in the University campus. The event acted as a platform for students to showcase their ability and creativity through working models. Over 120 students across 15 schools actively participated in the event presenting a variety of creative ideas such as Pharmaceutical Waste Management system, herbal facewash, Aquaponics, production of Mushroom, biocontrol agent & organic juice component from organic industrial waste, Accident Prevention Road safety model, Hightech Obstacle Avoidance Car, Data Transfer using LED technology and Human-Human interface.

University Organises First National Conference on Multidisciplinary Research

November 15, 2019: The JIS University organsied two-day National Conference on Multidisciplinary Research for the first time in the University campus. The conference was scheduled between November 12-13. It is an interdisciplinary research platform for academicians and researchers across India. University invited prominent dignitaries such as Director of JIS Institute of Advance Studies & Research, Ajoy Ray; Vice-President & CTO, Whistling Woods International, Chaitanya Chinchlikar; Member, World Water Council, Dr Snehal S Donde; and Scientist Dr Soumya Bandyopadhyay. The event witnessed the active participation of over 100 scholars who submitted research papers across various domains amongst which quality research papers were selected for discussion. The selected papers covered almost all major topics such as physics, biological sciences, chemistry, management, juridical sciences, education discipline, oral & dental sciences, computer and computational biology application.

Placements: 95% of students were placed. The campus is visually appealing, and the transit system is superb. Approximately half of graduates are placed in internships or jobs, with starting salaries ranging from 3 to 6 lakh per year. Cipla is the premier recruitment firm.

Amazing college with good infrastructure and facilities but no placement at all.

Placements: The percentage of students that were placed in our college was about 92% last year. The highest package was 12 LPA and the lowest was 4 LPA, and the average package offered in this college was also 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Amazon Flipkart Zomato Paytm, etc.

JIS UNIVERSITY : A candid look at challenges and shortcoming.

Placements: Only about 3 to 2% of atudents get placed in an actual good company from campus placements, Most others have to apply for jobs off campus. Given The skill set of students considering only the skills taught in JIS university, are laughable in today standards when applying for a job, thus most students have to learn very basic yet fundamentals skills necessary to get a job themselves. The college is very nice and they provide good placement .

Placements: 80 percent student were placed. The highest package is 15 LPA and average package i 5 LPA. The top recruiters are TCS, Wipro, Accenture etc. 50 percent students got internship in our college. The college offers role such as computer Science and engineering, and bachelor of technology etc.
