MLSU admission process differs based on the course, candidate applying for. Admission to UG courses at MLSU is based on aggregate score obtained in the qualifying exam followed by the counselling. BTech and BArch admissions at MLSU are based on rank secured in the JEE Main and NATA entrance examinations, respectively. The final selection for BTech and BArch is done though REAP counselling.

Mohanlal Sukhadia University has over 60 students as its intake capacity for the BSc programme. This is a three-year course for which, to get admitted, candidates have to secure at least 45% in their Class 12 examination. MLSU offers various specialisations under BSc, such as Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, and other related fields. The university also offers a four-year integrated course in BSc-B.Ed. programme that allows students to obtain a BSc and a Bachelor of Education simultaneously.

The MLSU hostel fee consists of various components including entry fee, room rent, electricity bill and maintenance charges. Hostel fee varies based on the type of room at the university. Admissions to the first semester of M.Sc programme shall be made on the basis of merit of the candidates as per the university rules. The university may conduct an entrance examination for admission to the courses offered in the university departments if the number of applicants exceeds three times of the seats. The merit will be determined on the basis of marks obtained in the written external examinations (Theory papers) at the graduation level in the relevant subjects and marks obtained in the entrance examination if applicable. For candidates who have passed graduation under the credit system, grades in the external examination of each theory course will be converted into marks using the relevant grade to mark conversion formulae. The relevant subjects at the graduation level for the programme of study will be defined by each committee of courses concerned.

MLSU eligibility criteria differs course to course. For BTech and BArch admission at MLSU, candidates must have passed Class 12 in PCM with at least 45% aggregate. MLSU offers a wide range of courses at UG and PG level and most of the courses requires minimum 45%-50% aggregate in their required qualification examination (Class 12 or graduation). Admission to MLSU courses is given on the basis of merit list followed by counselling. 

The fees for Ph.D., M.Sc., B.P. Ed., and B.Lib. I.Sc. are Rs.8,500 for the Ph.D., Rs.28,135 for the first year, Rs.4,510 for the second year, Rs.405 for the third year, Rs.5,405 for the fourth year, Rs.10,000 for the fifth year, Rs.15,000 for the sixth year, Rs.20,000 for the seventh year, Rs.25,000 for the eighth year, Rs.30,000 for the ninth year, Rs.35,000 for the tenth year, and Rs.40,000 for the following years: Ph.D., Post Graduation, B.L.Ed., BA + B.Lib.Ed., and MA.
