The Genuine perspective of a NITR student.
Placements: The placement details are yet to be released on the official website. However, the institute has released the NIRF report 2024. According to the report, the Average Salary is INR 9.00 Lacs, the highest Salary is INR 16.00 Lacs, Median Salary is INR 8.10 Lacs, and the lowest Salary is INR 4.00 Lacs. In fact, 75-80% of the students got placed from the Integrated M.Sc. circuit in 2024. Some companies conduct all the rounds at the campus itself, while there are a few which conduct some or all the rounds at some other place (NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Raipur, BIT Mesra etc.). The Placement scenario has drastically improved in the last couple of years, owing to excellent work by TnP cell and the Placement Coordinators. NIT Rourkela's top recruiters are Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Deloitte, BPCL, Wipro, GAIL, BEL, etc. Mostly, all sorts of roles will be offered to all companies. Internships through the college will be relatively on the lower side, but the companies that offer internships are high multinational giants. Almost 70 percent of the students got an internship from the college. The highest stipend was Rs. 60,000, the lowest was Rs. 20,000. Top roles offered in Integrated M.Sc. are roles of some faculty members from Edtech and a few unicorn companies while the rest of them can go for some research. Otherwise, one can sit for some roles offered by the IT sector whose recruitment is common for all the branches.
Infrastructure: The varsity has a large number of facilities for students. NIT Rourkela facilities include a central library, accommodation for students, a gymnasium, a couple of canteens, and a health center. The university also offers swimming pools for male and female students. There is a shopping center as well that supplies provisional items, stationery, and other essential items. Other NIT Rourkela facilities include a post office, bank, ATM, guest houses, and three temples. The modern infrastructure and necessary facilities make the lives of students comfortable on campus. NIT Rourkela has an efficient security system. The security wing has laid down some rules and regulations followed by all residents and visitors on campus. It has a duty room, which is operational all the time to prevent security breaches. The National Institute of Technology Rourkela facilities help in the overall growth of students. NIT Rourkela provides accommodation facilities to students with amenities such as a common room, an indoor room, a lounge, and a dining hall with mess. The Chief warden is the head of the hostel organization. He is assisted in his administrative responsibilities by the Wardens. The Warden is the administrative head of each hostel. Wardens are assisted by Assistant Wardens. Each hostel has its own Hall Working Committees. The Working Committees are composed of General Secretary, Maintenance Secretary, Mess Secretary, Environment Secretary, Cultural Secretary, and Games & Sports Secretary. The committee decides the pattern and the pace of life of each Hall. The college has Gym facilities for students. The Biju Patnaik Central Library of NIT Rourkela is named after the founding Chairman of the Board of Governors of REC Rourkela. The library has a robust collection of print and electronic resources and supports research activities of students, faculty, and research scholars. The college has Wi-Fi facilities for students and staff. The college has departmental-based laboratory facilities for students. NIT Rourkela has a Football-Hockey stadium, Dilip Tirkey Stadium. The stadium has a gymnasium with all modern facilities and has two instructors to help the students. The institute also has a Sachin Tendulkar Cricket Ground, a basketball court, and two tennis courts. NIT Rourkela offers separate swimming pool facilities for male and female students. Separate swimming coaches are available for men and women.
Faculty: In the first year, compared to the pressure we faced while getting into the college, it’s 0. The only problem is with attendance (like in biology class you can make at max 4 absents; otherwise, you will face grade back). The teaching quality is not good compared to your coaching teachers. Here you need to depend on yourself to complete the courses and to learn new stuff. Labs are tough as we have regular evaluations. The first year consists entirely of engineering material, for all branches in the institute have the same curriculum: basic courses on electrical and electronics engineering, data structures and algorithms, environmental and safety engineering, engineering mechanics, and chemistry more rote-based than your worst +12th standard nightmares. The physics paper (yeah, only one in each semester) will give you a very vacuous understanding of relativity, quantum and statistical mechanics, and there will be a lot of applied gibberish on lasers; the concentration will be primarily on roting down formulae to solve numericals of a very dry, vapid nature. You'll see absolute pea-brains get the best grades by good ol' hard driving the data and the exercise/assignment problems. The maths course is somewhat decent in the second semester (applied topics in linear algebra and multivariable calculus), but the first semester will force-feed you methods to solve ODEs and properties of special functions, like the Bessel functions or Legendre polynomials. You will be in a position to truly understand all this only after at least a year of proper real analysis excursion, and as before, dedicated pea-brains get the grades. This first-year course structure is actually irrelevant to EVERY student. People end up having to take compulsory courses in things they don't have any interest in, or need for. There will also be a physics lab, a chemistry lab, a mechanical workshop, and yes, an 'extracurricular activity' in the form of NCC, PE, or NSS. The second and third years see the physics, maths, and chemistry integrated classes combined, apart from one or two 'branch papers'. Again, the standards of teaching and curricula are ridiculous. Your knowledge in these three years will barely progress beyond the high school days as you'll mostly encounter a repeat, albeit more detailed, of the physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry of yore.
Other: A huge campus filled with greenery that makes you feel like you are just out of the polluted world. Hostels are quite clean and initially double-seated, but by the final year, you get a single-seated room. Superb internet speed. The mess provides varieties of food, ensuring there is no repetition of the same item/dish in a week. No uniform for classes, just the need to wear decent casuals. The pressure of studying will not be much if you are able to maintain a proper equilibrium between everything. You will meet students speaking different languages from different places in the country as well as from around the globe. DC+ is a file-sharing software through which you can avail any and every kind of movie, book, game, software, etc., with a download speed of 1GB/min or better. There are so many extracurricular activities you can avail yourself of, such as swimming, gym, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, cricket, etc. There are so many clubs where you can improve your personality as much as you want. Fests will be there throughout the year, giving you the feeling of being in a festive place. Weekend holidays when you can go out with friends and have a lot of fun. But still, some negative points are also there such as: Climate: Summer is too hot that you will feel so exhausted. Winter is too cold that you would rather love to sleep in a room than attending classes. Mess food will taste good initially, after some days quality as well as your interest in eating those stuff every day will deteriorate. Rules are strictly followed. No compromises in studies or attendance will be entertained. There are several cultural fests and events which happen throughout the year like COSMOPOLITAN, NITRUTSAV, VRIDDHI, etc.

Review about NIT RKL college life .
Placements: 95% of students were placed in our college, irrespective of branches. The highest package is in crores, which is off campus; on campus, it is 50 LPA; the lowest is 3.5 LPA; and the average is 12 LPA. Top recruiters are from Accenture, Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, etc. I have no idea about internships. My course is related to research .
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well established and in the AC rooms, smart boards are all there. Labs are also Wi-Fi-connected. The library is also Wi-Fi-connected. Mess food is okay. The canteen is there day and night, and the food is good as well. Medical facilities are good Sports facilities are good .
Faculty: Yes, the faculty members are good and well-qualified from abroad as well. Teaching quality is pretty average some of them are very good. Semester exams are pretty tough and no gaps are there. Pass percentage is maybe 80%; the course is not relevant in the first year.
Other: I chose this course because physics is one of my favorite subjects and I'm interested in astronomy .

Campus Life at NIT ROURKELA (INTEGRATED M.Sc. MATHEMATICS).
Placements: Around 50% student who applied were placed, but the opportunities for Int. M.Sc. student were very less, although Maths was better than all the other three branches. Also, if you have a very keen interest in coding then you can go for it. No coursework include or shall help you in the placement process. There are few companies who come for teaching Like Aakash, Fiit JEE Byjus etc. But ezcept FIITJEE and AAKASH there packages are too low.
Infrastructure: Overall infrastructure for college is very good, its a very beautiful campus you can never get bored of it. But again talkinh about Int. M.Sc. you will be very dissapointed whilst comparing to other B.Teach bramches. Hostels are great there are badminton courts and volleyball courts in all hostels. Food was also great in our time cant say for now. Hostels activities are very engaging intra hostel tournaments inter hostel tournaments and many more things.
Faculty: Faculty members are great, there are some teachers whom you might find not so engaging but on the other hand there are some professors who are more than willing to help, Curriculum is basically of pure Maths you won't get any taste of applied Maths so don't expect anything more from it.
Other: If you have a very keen interest in Maths then you xan go for it, else I won't suggest to go for int. M.Sc. math just for the sake of getting into NIT. Also the math that you will be taught here will be completely different from what you have learnt in 11th and 12th.

Why should you opt NITR as your career?
Placements: 60-70% students get placed. The highest package offered in this course was 17 Lacs and the lowest was 3.6 Lacs. Most of the students are opting for higher studies including research fields. Some of the students are opting for careers in PSU jobs while the others wish to build a career in civil services.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is marvelous. 24*7 Wi-Fi and electricity are available with air conditioned classrooms and library. There are smart classrooms with smart digital boards along with 24*7 CCTV surveillance. Clean washrooms and toilets are provided by the college. Mess is very clean and food qualities are average and are most importantly, tasty.
Faculty: Faculty members are very cooperative and friendly in nature. They always push the students forward. Whenever you need support, whether it's financial or academic, they are always available for you. If you have any doubt regarding the studies you can frankly ask them and they will surely help you out.

Good for research but not so great for placements.
Placements: 100 percent of students were placed last year. But average and the highest package was not so good in 2022 the highest was 11LPA and the lowest was 3.6LPA. Average is around 7.5 LPA. Most of them were placed in ed-teach companies. And lot of students went for higher studies.
Infrastructure: There is not so great infrastructure for the course but it is above average. Good classrooms are available with projectors and AC. And labs are also great. Hostel is also good with all facilities. Mess food is also above average. Apart from mess there is a day canteen and a night canteen.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and Knowledgeable. Curriculum is relevant and provides great opportunity for higher studies in local and abroad. Syllabus is research oriented. Semester exams are not so difficult it is easy to get pass but difficult to score excellent grade.
Other: Campus life is great. There are lots of fests and extracurricular activities. Like ino (teach fest), cosmo (cultural fest), virdhi (sports fest). Campus is huge. And also it provides great expose of teach.
