NLU Assam UG, PG Courses 2025

CLAT 2024 dates for admission to NLU Assam are out. Students seeking admission to UG and PG courses offered at National Law Universities (NLUs) can apply for CLAT 2024 on or before Nov 3, 2023 since the applications are currently ongoing. Only students who fill out the application form as well as, pay the fee are issued admit cards to appear for CLAT exam 2024. Students can log in using their registered mobile number and password to update their preferences in CLAT 2024 application form. 

Conducted in pen-and-paper mode, candidates have to attempt questions from English, Current Affairs and GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Mathematics for UG course, and from Constitutional Law, and other law subjects like Jurisprudence, Torts, IPC, CrPC, CPC, Family Law, and IPR. For admission 2024 at NLU Assam, the exam is scheduled for Dec 3, 2023.

Candidates who are willing to get into NLU Assam for the one-year LLM or five-year LLB course must specific the desired course in the application form.

As per NLU Assam NIRF report 2024, the median package offered during UG 5-year placements 2023 stood at INR 6.8 LPA. Further, a total of 16 students were placed and 20 students opted for higher studies out of total 70 students during UG 5-year placements 2023. Earlier, the institute has released the NIRF report 2023 on its official website. According to the NIRF report 2023,  1 BA LLB (Hons) student was placed during NLU Assam placements 2021. For admission to BA LLB (Hons) course at NLUJAA candidates have to register through CLAT portal. Registered candidates for CLAT 2025 counselling will be called by NLUJAA through five provisional merit lists, each released by the Consortium of CLAT. Candidates, who have been allocated a seat in the provisional lists and applied for revision, should check the status of their seat in the CLAT provisonal lists. Those, who have been allotted a seat in the NLU Assam Provisional Allotment Lists, must complete the process of exercising any one of the actions mentioned below:

1. Accept the allotted seat
2. Apply for Revise
3. Exit from the CLAT admission process

If alloted seat is accepted by the candidate. After, that the candidates need to report to NLU Assam for admission. The admission confirmation requires, documents submission and fees submission by the candidates through the official portal of NLU Assam. 

For admission to NLU Assam for the LLB or LLM course, the result of CLAT 2024 can be expected by the last week of December 2023 After the release of result, the exam takers will be able to download their CLAT scorecards from the official website using their login credentials for NLU Assam admission via CLAT counselling and seat allotment.

CLAT 2024 result contains details like the candidate's overall and sectional scores, and merit rank. Those who will qualify CLAT 2024 by meeting the required minimum cutoff as per the merit list are called for counselling process for seat allotment.

Note that for admission to the 5-year LLB or LLM courses, the candidate will have to meet the CLAT 2024 cut-off in their respective category. The CLAT 2024 merit rank list will be shared at the time of admission and seat allotments. Candidates ranked higher in CLAT 2024 merit list will be given preference during the seat allotment process.

The official college website currently has not released any information regarding the placement of LLM. Details regarding the placements of BAs and LLBs are available in the NIRF report. The placement information for the 2023 graduating class is still pending in the official site. On its official website, the institute has, nevertheless, made available the NIRF report for 2023. One BA LLB (Hons) student was placed at NLU Assam placements in 2021, according the NIRF report 2023. Located in Guwahati, Assam, India, National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA or NLUJAA) is a national law university. It was founded in 2009 as a public university specialising in legal education by an Act approved by the Assamese State Legislature (Assam Act XXV of 2009). NLu Assam offers ‘Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme’ with the view to supporting students from economically backward classes in their pursuit of education. This scholarship helps students who are pursuing BA, LLB (HONS) five year integrated course, i.e., students of the second; third; fourth and fifth years. A passing CLAT score is a requirement for admission to the NLUJAA LLM programme. In order to receive their final seat assignment, students must also go through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) counselling process run by CNLU.

The National Law School and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009, which was passed by the Assamese government, founded the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. The University provides a five-year integrated course B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Course, in which the first two years of study combine law courses with Social Science disciplines like Economics, History, Political Science, and Sociology as well as an English language course. A one-year LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree programme is also offered by the university. There are two hostels: one for boys and one for girls. Both have a smoke-free kitchen, a large eating area, a reading hall, a yoga studio, a prayer hall, a library, and a dining area. Hostels can accommodate single or double occupancy. 

Yes, NLU Assam accepts CLAT score. Candidates who are looking for degree course admission at National Law University & Judicial Academy, Assam must have a valid CLAT score. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) began the CLAT 2025 Registration on July 15, 2025. The University provides a five-year integrated course called B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Five-Year Integrated Course, in which the first two years of study combine law courses with Social Science disciplines like Economics, History, Political Science, and Sociology as well as an English language course. For the first three years of school, every topic is required. But in the fourth and fifth years, students can choose from five different streams of optional subjects: Corporate and Intellectual Property Law; Administrative and Constitutional Law; Consumer Protection and Environmental Law; Criminal Law and Criminology; and International Law and Human Rights. The Semester System is used by the NLUJA. There are two semesters in each academic year, making the complete Five-Year Course divided into ten semesters.

National Law University Assam admission to all the programmes is done online through the official website of the university. Find below the detailed admission process followed by NLU Assam for admission:

Step 1: For NLU Assam admissions to BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programme registrations are done through CLAT. Candidates must visit the official website of CNLU to apply for CLAT.  

Step 2: The registered candidates are required to appear for CLAT entrance exam for admission to BA LLB and LLM programmes. After that, candidates willing to get admission in BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programmes, have to go through the CLAT counselling process for acceptance of seats. To confirm the allotment, candidates have to accept the seat allotment, after that the allotment will get frozen.

Step 3: Candidates who will accept the allotted seat need to upload all the required documents on the official portal. After that candidates, will be required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats within a stipulated deadline. 

National Law University offers admission based on merit and entrance exams. Aspiring candidates qualify the eligibility criteria set by the univeristy for the admission.
