Yes, you can join Sikkim University with or without entrance exams. The University offers admission via an entrance exam and merit based on the candidate's performance in the qualifying exam. Merit-based admission is offered for courses such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, etc.  However, for the flagship course, BTech admission is based on either JEE Main or SMIT Entrance Exam.  Candidates only have to qualify for the eligibility criteria, and based on their performance in the qualifying exam, a merit list will be prepared.

The admission criteria for Sikkim Manipal University varies for the undergraduate, postgraduate, and Diploma courses. Most of the courses offer admissions on an entrance basis. Yes, Sikkim Manipal University does provide lateral entry for the BTech programme. The eligibility criteria for lateral entry into the BTech programme are a Diploma in the appropriate branch or a BSc in Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks. The selection process is based on the candidate's marks in the qualifying examination and an entrance test conducted by SMIT. The final merit list is prepared by considering both the qualifying examination marks and the entrance test score.

To be eligible for the entrance exam, candidates must have passed their class 12 with a minimum of 50% for the General category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC category in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, or Biology. Alternatively, candidates with a Diploma in engineering from a State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 50% for the General category and 45% for the SC/ST/OBC category are also eligible. Candidates appearing for their qualifying examination may also apply for the entrance exam.
