Q:   Is Tumkur University good for B.Sc.?

A:
{Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's what we've summarized:

* Placement and Career Prospects: Unfortunately, Tumkur University doesn't have a strong reputation for placements, particularly for the Life Sciences course. Students may struggle to secure jobs without prior arrangements.
* Teaching Quality: While professors are well-qualified, some students felt that they didn't complete the syllabus adequately, leaving students to rely on notes just before exams.
* Facilities and Infrastructure: Classrooms are spacious, and the college has a well-equipped laboratory. However, Wi-Fi is limited to laboratories, and the canteen food could improve.
* Campus Life: The campus is situated in a prime location, offering amenities like hostels, libraries, and recreational facilities. However, the lack of placement opportunities might affect student engagement.
* Scholarship Opportunities: Some scholarships, like the SSP Scholarship, are available for eligible students.

Overall, Tumkur University may not be the ideal choice for students seeking a strong focus on career development and placements, particularly for B.Sc. courses. While the university offers good facilities and teaching quality, its limitations in these areas might impact student outcomes.

One of best private college for fashion design in Bangalore.
Placements: The college does provide placement opportunities, and last year's students were placed with different brands. However, the starting salary is usually low, which is typical for freshers in the fashion design field.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure and facilities. It has well-maintained classrooms with AC, a library, a sewing lab, medical facilities, and restrooms. Parking is available. There is no canteen on campus, but there are several food and drink options just outside the gate. The college does not provide hostel facilities, so students must find their own accommodations nearby.
Faculty: All the mentors are qualified from good colleges and have good industrial and teaching experience. They will clear our doubts and complete the portions on time. The course structure is up to date according to industry requirement and will prepare us for the industry. College exams are easy to pass if you study even a little during exam and focus in classes. The pass percentage is 95%.
Other: I chose this college because it is one of the best private colleges in Bangalore for fashion design, and it is affiliated with Bengaluru University. It is also affordable. I like that they provide industrial visits, fashion show volunteering, and certification. They also organize events on different occasions, such as Christmas, Dandiya night, Kannada Rajotsava, and JD Got Talent.

Review of Sree Siddaganga College of Arts Science and Commerce for Women Tumkur.
Placements: Classroom strength will be around 55 to 60. Internships and placements provided for final-year students are really weak when compared. Otherwise, teaching and lecturing skills are most appreciable. They tend to complete the syllabus on time and give better notes .
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well arranged and neatly maintained (sometimes exceptional) and in labs there is sufficient equipment and systems necessary for the lab and we've got a good library that continues numerous books regarding academics. The canteen is an utter disappointment to mention .
Faculty: The lecturers are good, as are their teaching skills at Sree Siddaganga College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women. They are really capable of reaching out to the students about academics. Exams are moderate, not so difficult yet not too easy .

B.Sc. in Microbiology - Batch of 2025

Review of Tumkur University.
Placements: There is no sort of placement that will take place; we need to find it on our own. The college will not look after jobs, internships, or placements. You will just waste your career if your job-oriented career at this college or in this course is not suitable.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are spacious and the college is located in a prime location with a with a well-equipped laboratory. There are two boys and girls hostels in the college itself, and there is one library with a digital library facility. There is no Wi-Fi facility; only a computer has access. Washrooms were just built a month ago; there is no proper washroom facility either. There is a Xerox and a stationary shop within our college campus for student requirements.
Faculty: Lectures are well qualified but they don't complete the syllabus. Notes will be given just before the exam. There is no exposure to any other sort of curriculum or industry. Exams are held every semester; it's quite difficult. Lab exams are held so strictly. The pass percent is 35% and the marks are 24 for 60 marks .
Other: Microbiology is one of the most interesting subject for me but in our city, only one college have this course, which made me choose this course at this college. The teaching lectures need to improve their teaching methods, as some of them show an attitude toward the students. Fests like SRUJANA, which is meant to celebrate and award achievements,. ASHMITHE, it's a talent show. Campus surroundings: It's a lush green campus, about 50 meters away from the main road and the same distance from the bus stand. There are all the required facilities there, like medical shops, hospitals, stationary, food stalls, etc. The scholarship offered is the SSP Scholarship. Extracurricular activities are there, such as sports, NSS, NCC, rangers and rovers. And they are OEP, which is an open electives paper; we can choose any other course rather than which we opt for semester-wise; and SEC, which is a skill enhancement course.

Exploring Academia of Tumkur University.
Placements: There are no sort of placement drives held at Tumkur University for Life Science course, but there are placements for BCA, M.Com and MBA courses where only Infosys and Wipro visit for hiring. We have a placements cell room which is of no use. It's not good for placements. It’s better to look for job oriented studies. For placements, you should choose any other college than this.
Infrastructure: Our college is located at the center of the city near the BH (Bengaluru to Honnavara) road. College is spread across 60 acres of land approximately. Science building is an old one while the arts and commerce buildings are newly built. Hostel is near the college and is maintained well. College is surrounded with a good environment having a lush green campus. A canteen is present inside the college. I would not recommend it because the food does not taste well, there is no proper change in the menu having the same dishes every day. Every subject has 5-6 labs provided but Chemistry has 8 labs. There are 2 rooms for indoor games, 1 badminton ground, 1 Table tennis room, 1 basketball ground, 1 Lawn tennis ground and 3 big grounds meant for cricket along with 2 helipads. There is a separate room for medical emergency and there are 3 gyms present in the college.
Faculty: Every Professor is well qualified and most of them are Ph.D. holders. They have all cleared their NET and SLET exams. Guest faculty members are also well qualified having done their Masters. Every subject has at least 10-15 faculty members. They are so interactive with the students and whenever we approach them with any questions or queries, they answer us well. But some times they don’t complete the syllabus. There are extracurricular courses introduced like NSS, NCC, Physical education, Logical reasoning, Library Science, and Mental ability for the students. Exams are conducted semester wise with 60 marks for writing and 40 marks for internals. 24 is the passing score required in the theory exams. Lab exams are held before the theory exams which consist of 50 marks.
Other: I have a passion in Life Science so I chose Zoology where we have 3 labs and 1 Animal museum. Animals have been brought in from the Zoos and from Wildlife Sanctuaries for the students to study well about them. The thing which needs to change in our course is that they need to conduct lecture series every week. Our college events include SRUJANA which is meant to appreciate the students and the college’s achievements. ASHMITHE is an event for showcasing the students’ talents. Kannad Rajyotsava is celebrated every year by performing cultural programs. A convocation is held every year. Campus is big having around 1000+ students in the Science building, We have a Xerox shop in our college along with a stationary shop. Extracurricular activities like inter-college and intra-college sports, seminars, exhibitions, cultural programs are held. Yearly trips, excavations, NSS camps, NCC camps, rangers and rovers camps are also held every year. Scholarships from the government and non government agencies are provided for backward class and economically weaker students, especially the SSP scholarships.

Good college with friendly faculty members, highly recommendable.
Placements: Placements are not too good. About 30% of the students have been placed from the past 2 years. TechB, HCL, Teach, IIM, IBT, BS, and other companies are the top recruiters for our course. 4 LPA is the highest package in our college. 20% of the students have got the internship offer.
Infrastructure: Faculty members are very friendly and helpful. Teaching will be done in the English language. Highly qualified and smart teachers. Infrastructure is good and clean. Wi-Fi facility is also available, classrooms are clean, and the library is also there.
Faculty: Teaching quality is very good. All the faculty members are well-experienced and have good teaching skills. This is a Computer Science-based course, and the syllabus contains programming languages like Java, Python, C, C++, etc. This makes us get industry-ready. Exams will be easy; 40% and more is the passing percentage.

Nice college and good university.
Placements: Tumkur University is the best university, which provides a 94% placement rate in Big Companies. The highest package offered is 26 lacs per annum, and the lowest package is 2.3 lacs per annum. The top recruiting companies are Acgir, Tata, ICTR, BSNL, and more companies.

Faculty: The teaching staff is good; they helped me more in studies. They also support sports. The teaching quality is good and teaches in an understandable way. Teachers have more than 6 to 10 years of experience in teaching. Our university has a 92% passing rate. The semester exams are hard to pass.
