Via Board Exams:

Candidates who have secured a minimum of 80% marks in both their higher secondary and senior secondary exams, with five main subjects (including English as a compulsory subject), can be exempted from the ULSAT. They are eligible for direct admission to the 5-year LLB programs.

Q:   How much score do I need to pass ULSAT exam?

A:

The ULSAT exam doesn’t have a specific “passing score.” Instead, admission to law programs at UPES is based on relative performance—your score will be compared to other candidates in the same testing cycle. After the exam, UPES releases a merit list based on the scores. Those with higher ranks are called for further admission processes, which may include group discussions and personal interviews.

While there’s no fixed passing score, it is important to aim for a high score to increase your chances of being shortlisted for the next rounds. Generally, competitive performance in sections like legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and general knowledge can help secure a strong position on the merit list.

Q:   How is the ULSAT score and percentile/rank calculated?

A:

The ULSAT is an entrance exam conducted for admissions in UPES Dehradun. The paper syllabus is similar to CLAT but has 150 questions only where equal weightage is given to every section including English, maths, logical reasoning, general knowledge and legal aptitude. The scores are based on the number of correct answers by a candidate out of the maximum marks of 150. The final ranks are also based on the marks obtained by a student. Thus, the better marks the better rank and better prospects of grabbing seats at UPES. Also the cutoff are released once the marks are out and seats are filled. Also, waiting lists are issues which may be given chance in case of any vacancy arising. Apart from this, there is no other method of calculation.
