Q: I did not take the CLAT and LSAT, what should I do to study law at the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies?
To study law at the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), applicants need to fill out the UPES LLB or LLM application form and submit their 12th Board marks and CLAT/LSAT scores to participate in their selection process. Candidates who have not taken the CLAT/LSAT India exams need to appear in the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Law School Admission Test (ULSAT) to study LLB/LLM at the institution. CLAT and LSAT India scores are non-exam pathway for ULSAT entrance exam.
Q: What is a non-exam pathway for admission to UPES Law courses?
The non-exam pathway for admission to UPES law courses is an alternative method of gaining admission to these programs without taking the ULSAT (UPES Legal Studies Aptitude Test) or other law entrance exams conducted by UPES. This pathway is designed to provide flexibility to candidates who may not have appeared for the ULSAT entrance exam. Instead, admission is based on scores obtained by candidates in other prominent law entrance exams, such as CLAT, LSAT India, SLAT, MH CET Law and others and other factors. Here's how the non-exam pathway for UPES law courses typically works:
Through CLAT:
Candidates can seek admission to the 5-year LLB programme without the necessity of taking the ULSAT exam, provided they possess a valid CLAT AIR (All India Rank) within the top 15,000. Such applicants will be granted direct access to the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.
For the LLM program, candidates holding a valid CLAT PG rank and meeting the minimum qualifying marks criteria in Class 10 and Class 12 are also eligible to apply for specialization.
Through LSAT India:
Applicants who have achieved a percentile score of 60 or higher in the LSAT-India examination will be exempt from the ULSAT and will receive direct admission to the GD and PI rounds.
Via Board Exams:
Candidates who have secured a minimum of 80% marks in both their higher secondary and senior secondary exams, with five main subjects (including English as a compulsory subject), can be exempted from the ULSAT. They are eligible for direct admission to the 5-year LLB programs.
Q: What law programs are offered through ULSAT?
Through ULSAT (UPES Legal Studies Aptitude Test), the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) offers a range of law programs, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These programs are designed to prepare students for various aspects of the legal profession. The following law programs typically offered through ULSAT:
1. Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.): This is a 5-year undergraduate programme that combines a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree.
2. Integrated B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.): Similar to the B.A. LL.B. program, this is also a 5-year integrated course that combines a Bachelor of Commerce degree with an LL.B. degree.
3. Integrated BBA LL.B. (Hons.): This programme integrates a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an LL.B. degree and spans 5 years.
4. LL.M. (Master of Laws): ULSAT also offers a postgraduate LL.M. programme for students who have completed their undergraduate law degree and wish to specialize in a particular area of law.
These programs aim to provide a comprehensive legal education and prepare students for diverse career opportunities in the legal field, including practicing law, corporate legal positions, and more. Please note that programme offerings and details may change, so it's advisable to refer to the official UPES website for the most up-to-date information on the programs available through ULSAT.
