Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for M.A. students at University of Hyderabad?

    A:
    {Source: M.A. students & alumni}

Success of Placement Cell in Securing Jobs for M.A. Students

Based on student reviews and feedback, here's an overview of the success of the placement cell in securing jobs for M.A. students:

    * Placement Drive: The placement cell organizes regular placement drives throughout the final semester, featuring reputed companies offering good packages.
    * Job Placements: Although the number of placements varies, around 340 students got placed during campus recruitment, with a the highest salary package of INR22.80 Lacs per annum (LPA) in India.
    * Competition Ratio: Around 15 students applied for 3 job positions, indicating a relatively low competition ratio.

While the placement cell seems to have made efforts to secure jobs for M.A. students, it appears that the process may not always guarantee placements. Some students may still opt for alternative routes, such as appearing for competitive exams like GATE, to secure employment. Nonetheless, the placement cell's initiatives demonstrate a commitment to supporting students' career aspirations.

We have really good faculty members here.
Placements: The campus placement opportunities here are good. While not everyone opts for campus placement, those who do tend to get decent salary packages. There are also internships and other opportunities available, but it's up to the students to keep track of them. Several of my batchmates got the opportunity to present papers at different universities, including Kerala University.
Infrastructure: The university has a 24*7 library, open Wi-Fi, and reading rooms in both the south and north campuses. Each department also has its own reading room. The old hostels have a few non-functional washrooms, but the new ladies hostels are really nice and even have a gym and playing area.
Faculty: The teachers at this college are really good and helpful, with a few exceptions. However, due to the implementation of NEP, the course structure is a bit different, and many courses that are considered core are missing. The semester exams are okay, but the mandatory attendance requirement is a problem for students who want to do other things at the same time.
Other: I think mandatory attendance should be removed. The campus culture is very inclusive, and it's a great place to live. For those who are into sports, this campus provides good opportunities. However, not so much for Masters students; undergraduate students have an abundance of opportunities for academic writing, presentations, etc.

Best department for political science among central universities.
Placements: Percentage-wise data varies. Although after this course, many students prefer to go for higher studies and pursue a PhD. In that aspect, this university is one of the best places. Professors will help you carve out your future plan. They engage with you regarding the further course of action you take and are very open to helping you with where you want to pursue your PhD.
Infrastructure: Classes and hostels are well maintained. There are a few problems, but considering everything and the fee structure, one should say it is good. Wi-Fi facility is available both in hostels and departments. A separate department library also exists along with a huge university library. The quality of food is average. As a South Indian menu is available, people from other parts of the country may face a challenge regarding food.
Faculty: The faculty is top-notch in the country. You will be studying from the best minds in whatever area you want to pursue. The course curriculum is often heavy and keeps students engaged throughout the semester. Rigorous efforts are expected from students. Evaluation is done by written exams as well as other modes of assessment, such as term papers, projects, and assignments. It is a must-visit place for this reason if one wants to study political science in a public university in India.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to study political science. This department is considered one of the finest in the country, and it's worth it. Sukoon is the annual fest conducted by the elected students' union. The crowd and campus are both filled with energy. Connectivity is based on the buses run by the university.

Satisfied with faculty, but administration is poor.
Placements: Appearing in 2025 placements interview. 30 Lacs per annum. Google, Microsoft, etc. As of now, we are not doing any internships, and even my college is not offering any kind of internships. Apart from all your questions, my college has a good reputation.
Infrastructure: Bad condition of infrastructure and technology, provided by the administration, buildings are in worse condition in my school, but the library is the finest place where students rush to. The mess condition is even worse, but the quality of food sanitation is good.
Faculty: Knowledge faculty, well-reputed professors, highly qualified, good teaching skills. Our courses are prepared by professors themselves, that sharpen the students and provide good training for the students to enter the economic e-society.
Other: University doesn't value money; that administration thinks all students can afford the fees, the finest which is imposed by us. Poor conditions of infrastructure are not looked out for by the administration. Scholarships are provided, that even students cannot afford, not helping students to fulfill their basic needs.

    M.A. in Economics - Batch of 2024
    4.8
    4Placements5Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
I'm delighted with my university because of the faculty and research environment provided by it.
Placements: Out of the students in my batch interested in placement, approximately 60%–70% have secured positions. The highest package is 14 lacs, the lowest package is 4.2 lacs, and the average package is 5.5-6.5 lacs. Top recruiting companies: Federal Bank, Berkadia, Jocata, Synchrony, SplashBI, Quadratyx, Global Data, etc. Approximately 60% got an internship.
Infrastructure: There are 6–8 digital classrooms in our School of Economics; 1 computer lab is also there, which provides us access to different statistical software that is useful for research. On our campus, there is one central library and one departmental library. And also, the university provides free Wi-Fi throughout the entire campus with unlimited data. Free Wi-Fi, Daily Cleaning of Hostel and Washrooms, Quality of Food is Medium, One Health Center (Zero Fee), and also health insurance.
Faculty: Teachers in my department are well qualified and very helpful. Some professors have industry experience as well. Yes, our course curriculum is relevant for both the corporate sector and for research as well. Semester exams are a little bit difficult, but almost 90–95% of students pass the exams.
Other: My keen interest is in the field of finance and economics research; that's why I chose this course. The best thing about my course is that it's a specialization in the area of finance as well as different other specialized areas. Offer some more courses that are more relevant to the current economic scenario. There are different cultural events organized by students from different states; Fest-Sukoon is organized by the student union once a year; and the DAG fellowship is there.

    Review of University of Hyderabad.
Placements: Placements provided in our course are not good. Archeology students can get placed in some archeology-related jobs. Placements are good for science departments. Students can participate in many internships and conferences.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the hostel and college is very good. Classrooms are very good. Hostel allots 2 students in each room. The food served is good. Our college provides good environment to study in.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are very good, experienced, and helpful.
Other: Our campus gives pleasure to students. It is very beautiful and gives a homely feeling and is spread over 2300 acres. Students can participate in events.

I think it's a perfect choice for mass communication.
Placements: About 30 percent of our seniors got placed in big companies like Deloitte and Wipro, with the highest package going to 10 LPA and the average being 6 LPA. Many companies were invited for campus placements, with lots of opportunities for students to grow and learn.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is commendable in some departments, making you feel like you're in a hotel. There are labs for practical courses, and for our course, we have an in-house radio station and a production studio for more hands-on learning experience.
Faculty: I personally feel the teachers are overqualified, as they are well-known figures in the Communication field with a fantastic background, which provides a chance to enhance your exposure and interact with some well-known personalities. Professors are very helpful and will do everything in their capability to help you grow.
Other: Every other day there's a new celebration on campus, and there is diversity. The campus is very beautiful.
