Q:   Is it worth pursuing BCA at Utkal University?

A:
{Source: BCA students & alumni}

Here's a summary of the key points:

Pros:
* Quality education: Students praise the teaching quality, saying it's "super awesome" and that teachers are knowledgeable and helpful.
* Relevant curriculum: The course curriculum is 60-70% relevant to the industry, making it useful for career growth.
* Campus life: The campus is green, and there are regular events and fests, such as Hindu festivals, tech fests, and cultural programs.
* Friendly atmosphere: Students appreciate the supportive environment, stating that everyone, including seniors and faculty members, forms a close-knit community.
* Scholarship opportunities: Merit-based scholarships are available to eligible students.

Cons:
* Limited on-campus placement: While some companies visit the campus, the majority of students find internships and jobs through off-campus efforts.
* Placement variability: Placement packages vary, ranging from INR2.5 LPA to INR3.8 LPA, depending on the company.
* No internship program: Currently, there is no formal internship programme in place.

Overall, while Utkal University's BCA programme has its limitations, it appears to provide a solid foundation in software development, data analysis, and related fields. With hard work and dedication, students can leverage these skills to secure decent placement opportunities.

Keep in mind that the placement scene might improve with time, as the university continues to develop its infrastructure and relationships with potential employers. For those interested in pursuing a dual degree (BCA + MCA), Utkal University offers a unique opportunity to complete both degrees in five years at a relatively lower cost compared to other institutions.

Ultimately, whether it's worth pursuing BCA at Utkal University depends on individual goals, priorities, and circumstances. We recommend weighing the pros and cons carefully and considering factors like placement trends, course relevance, and campus culture before making an informed decision.

Absolutely Satisfied with Infrastructure.
Placements: The placement is very low in our college. The faculty doesn't teach, and the students are not ready for higher-level companies, so low-level companies come. The package is 1.5 to 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Tech Mahindra. 50 to 60 percent of students get software development roles.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our department is very poor. There is only one lab for the entire department, with 30 computers, and many computers don't work properly. The classroom for us is the lab; there is no specific classroom for us. But the library is pretty good. I am not from the hostel, but from what I hear from the hostelers, the food is pretty bad.
Faculty: The faculty is helpful, but the teaching quality of a few faculty members is good and knowledgeable. The course is good, but you need to study according to the trend and gain extra knowledge to be industry-ready. The semester is very difficult, and the pass percentage is 80 percent.

Every facility is good here.
Placements: Approximately 75% students got placement in my batch. The highest package is 8.3 Lacs and the lowest is 2.6 Lacs per annum. I'm doing BCA, batch of 2021. I recently got my job. Companies like Infosys, Wipro, and all IT companies are hiring students from this college.
Infrastructure: Every facility is good except the canteen food. Labs are average but good. Every facility is kind and very friendly to all the students. Except food, everything is well. HOD and all the staff are quite good here. All the campus is neat and clean.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable here, and all are professors and well-graduated. I chose this course because it makes students' futures bright. The exams are not that tough on average. We all practice all the questions and answers with teachers.
Other: I have an interest in this line, actually, so I chose this course. I love the IT sector. The IT sector should give jobs to every student. Everything is well over here.

Not satisfied fully in my point of view this is an average college.
Placements: The strength of my batch is 120 (bca 5th sem). The highest package is 4-5 LPA ,lowest is 2 LPA and the average package is 2-3 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra etc. 40-50 percent student got internship in ICICI Bank and tech Mahindra.
Infrastructure: There are 6-7 computer labs for ug students. All are facilitated with wifi. Our college also have 2 libraries. And the class rooms are average in size and we have smart classes also. The hostel quality is average. The rooms are medium in size and one room is meant for 3 students. But the canteen food quality is poor. If there is a medical emergency our college have vehicles to take them to hospital. There is a small playground in our college.
Faculty: The teachers are very much helpful and qualified. Teaching quality is good. The difficulty level of semester exam is moderate. We have also facilities of industry visit. The pass percentage is 80-85%. The college strictly follow the 75 Percentage attendance. If a student doesn't have 75% attendance he/she can't appear in the exam.
Other: I chose it because I want to go in technical line but not interested in Btech and my brother suggested me also.

My honest review of my college experience.
Placements: There are 60 students in my batch. Our course is the best course and top companies are recruiting this course only, like Deloitte, Wipro and many more. Their monthly salary is 60,000 after completion of this course. Software development, software engineering, web development, data analytics and many more job roles are offered.
Infrastructure: So many facilities are provided by the college, like a library. All kinds of books are present, and very clean classrooms and toilets are there. The hostel is also near the college and the food and facilities are very nice and affordable. Very humble teachers and staff are there.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful; they complete the course on time and also provide us with important questions. They are highly qualified and very knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is very good. This course curriculum is very relevant; it makes students industry-ready. The pass percentage is 40% for the semester examination.
Other: I chose this course because I'm really interested in teaching, and it fits with my career goals. This course offers a lot of opportunities in the field I want to pursue. The canteen should be there on our campus.

Absolutely satisfied with our faculty and our placement preparation.
Placements: My college is also famous for good placements. Many MNCs like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, LTIMindtree, Deloitte, etc., come to our college. The maximum package is 4 LPA, and the minimum package is 2.80 LPA. There are good placement preparation classes conducted in our college.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are equipped with smart technology, including Wi-Fi and smart LEDs. The classrooms are well-structured. The hostel rooms are clean and well-maintained. Our canteen serves very healthy and delicious food. There are well-defined playgrounds in our college.
Faculty: The faculty at our college are well-educated and experienced. All of our faculty members have completed their PhDs at reputed institutions. They are very helpful and assist students in studying effectively. The faculty members are also very approachable and support students at any time.
Other: Our college conducts a function every year in February called Basant Utshav.

Review of MITS School of Biotechnology.
Placements: Almost 60% of students got placed in our batch rather than in another batch; almost 70-80% used to get placed. Average package is 3.5 LPA. LTI, Mindtree, Deloitte, Accenture, TCS, etc. are the most visited companies in the college. There is no internship scheme in the college but yes, the placements are quite good .
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not that good, but yes, the management is good, and it provides a good course in a feasible amount. There are labs and a library inside the premises, which help the students to get more knowledge and get firsthand experience on different topics.
Faculty: Every 6 months there will be a new semester, and the course has 6 semesters. Teachers are good; some of them are extremely good, while others are underexperienced. Semester exams are not that hard if you have studied at least something. You need to have basic knowledge about the topic at least, which will make you easily pass the exams.
