VIT Vellore PhD Eligibility & Highlights 2025

VIT University, Vellore offers PhD programme at the doctoral level. The programme is offered under Internal (Full-Time), Internal (Part-Time) and External (Part-Time) modes. Usually, candidates need to appear for VITREE, conducted by the VIT Vellore to secure admission to the PhD programme. The University offers PhD in several streams, such as Science, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, Fashion Technology and Management.

Students looking for admission to PhD are evaluated based on the overall merit index of the candidate which is arrived at by taking into account the candidate’s performance in the previous university examinations at master’s level and the performance in the written test, research output and/ the performance in PI round at VIT.
Candidates, who have already qualified in CSIR NET/ UGC NET/ GATE or any other national-level entrance test, will get a direct call for the PI from the respective department of the Deemed University

The minimum period of study and research from the date of registration for the PhD programme to the date of submission of the thesis is 30 months for full-time research scholars and 36 months for part-time research scholars.

Selection criteria: Final selection of the students is done on the basis of the overall merit of the candidate in the previous qualifying examination at master’s level and performance in the written test, followed by research output and performance in a personal interview.

Placements: This paper aims to define the educational programme and determine the importance of Vellore Institute of Technology as one of the most reputable colleges located in Tamil Nadu. There are many job placement opportunities, and students can find well-paid jobs by using the facilities provided by this university. It has the following impressive placement yearly records. The maximum salary offered is 25 Lacs per annum, and the average salary offered is around 7.5 Lacs per annum.

Infrastructure: We can say that we have much better facilities in our college than some other developing countries. As for facilities, it has rooms for teaching, laboratories, and a library. All facilities are well-maintained. Different hostels are present in this college; many of them are all-inclusive for the students. It is true that the type of food they eat in the canteen is good.

Faculty: In terms of faculty, we have well-qualified, friendly, and professionally talented people in our school. It can be said that teaching quality is acceptable in most instances. As for the points, all of them are rather easy to comprehend when it comes to the course materials. This is true, as I have researched the course curriculum and found that the topics studied are appropriate in the field, although we need to acquire more knowledge to succeed in the future.

VIT Vellore offers the following fellowships and scholarships to the meritorious students pursuing PhD programme from VIT Vellore:

All internal full-time scholars admitted into PhD programme will get a fellowship of INR 20,000 per month for three years.
All Internal full-time scholars who have a valid GATE score percentile of 80 or above are entitled to get a fellowship worth INR 25,000 per month.
Apart from this, scholars are encouraged to apply for JRF (CSIR / UGC)/ Inspire Fellowships/ Rajiv Gandhi Scholarships (minority community and backward community).
