Product Design student at Woxsen University, has reached a significant milestone with his animated short film "BAND" winning the prestigious 'Best Animated Short Film Category' award at the renowned Indo-French International Film Festival. This achievement is particularly notable as "BAND" is the first-ever film to feature Indian Traditional Kondapalli Toys. Hosted by the Goa Directorate of Film Festivals in collaboration with the government, the Indo-French International Film Festival (IFIFF) serves as a platform to recognize and celebrate emerging talents worldwide. As an annual and monthly qualifying festival, it welcomes filmmakers from diverse backgrounds.
"BAND," initially conceived as a classroom project and later developed into a graduation project by Abhinav Sai Kolla, has now gained global recognition. The film beautifully showcases the world of Kondapalli toys, incorporating innovative techniques while preserving their cultural significance. Abhinav, drawing inspiration from the Toyetic strategy, aims to promote traditional Kondapalli toys through his startup, Capybara Studios. His vision extends beyond the festival recognition, as he plans to distribute the film via OTT platforms or TV channels to further its reach and garner more acclaim. The film's unique approach lies in infusing functionality into the static Kondapalli toys, breathing life into the characters with movable body parts.
