CA Foundation is conducted in over 190 cities across India and in 8 cities abroad. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts the CA exams at designated test centres in these cities in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. CA exams are held in over 150 cities across India and in 8 overseas locations – Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Kampala, Kathmandu, Kuwait and Muscat. Candidates can choose their preferred test cities while filling the CA exam application form. Q: How can I choose my test city for CA exam?
The option to select test city for CA exam is given in the application form. The ICAI CA exam is held in over 180 cities across India. Candidates can select up to 3 cities as their preferred location. They have to select the city/cities of their choice in the form in order of 1-3. The test centre will be allotted to candidates as per their first preference and availability of seat. If the seat is already filled in the test centre of the city of first preference, the candidate will be allotted a test centre in the second city of preference.
Q: Can I change my test city after submitting the CA exam form?
Yes, candidates can change their test city preference after submitting the CA exam form but they can do so only when the examination authority opens the form correction window. The form correction facility is opened for 2-3 days in every exam phase. The form correction window usually opens a day after the last date of CA exam form submission. During the form correction window, candidates can change image, signature, test cities and exam medium.
CA form correction is a one-time activity and of you don’t make the changes in the form while the window is open, you will not be allowed to make any changes in the form later.
Q: What details will be mentioned in ICAI CA admit card?
The ICAI CA admit card of every candidate will contain personal information and test centre details which include candidate’s name, candidate’s address, candidate’s roll number, exam group, test city, medium of examination, candidate’s registration number, candidate’s mobile phone number, test centre address, candidate’s photo and signature. Every candidate should check the information printed on the CA admit card for errors and misprint and in case of any, they must get it rectified by the testing agency before the commencement of the exam.
Incase, the photograph and signature of the candidate are not there on the ICAI CA admit card, they need to get their photograph & signature attested by a member of the Institute on his letterhead, indicating inter alia the name, registration number, exam, month and year of exam, roll number, medium, group, centre and postal address and carry the same to the examination centre, in duplicate, as proof of his/her identity.

Q: What are the documents/items to carry at CA exam centre?
CA candidates need to carry two copies of CA admit card (A4 size paper/colour printout), one photo ID (original), blue or black ballpoint pen and calculator to the examination centre. Candidates can carry Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID card, passport or driving license as the mandatory document for identification. They are also required to carry passport size photos to affix on the CA admit card. Entry without these documents will not be allowed.
Digital copy of the admit card or photo ID will not be accepted as valid at the examination centres, thus candidates must take print outs of their admit card as soon as they download it.
Q: Can I change my CA test centre after receiving the admit card?
No, there is no provision to change their exam centres after the CA admit card has been issued. The option to change test city is given only the form correction process which is held a day after the registrations close. the form correction window is opened for 3-4 days for making changes in the already submitted form. Afterwards, you cannot change the test city. You will have to take the test in the city mentioned on your admit card. Thus, it is important that you make careful selection of the test cities in the CA exam form. Always select your hometown or city of current residence as the first preference so that you are allotted a test centre in that city only.

To download the ICAI CA admit card, candidates have to log in to their ICAI account with the login ID and password created at the time of registration. Once they log in, they will be able to see the option to download the admit card on the dashboard. Click on the option and download the admit card. Here’s the process of CA admit card explained in steps:

No other website is authorised by the ICAI to host the admit cards, so candidates must not log in to any link which is not hosted at the official website of ICAI. Admit cards for CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final will be hosted on the same website. The CA Intermediate and CA Final admit cards are released on the same date whereas the CA Foundation admit card is released on a separate date. For downloading the CA admit card, candidates will have to use their login credentials created at the time of exam form submission.
Important Points Related to ICAI CA Exam Centres 2025
- Candidates must select the CA Foundation test cities for centre allotment carefully and as per their residence at the time of exam.
- The preferred test city can be changed only during the CA form correction process initiated by the ICAI.
- Candidates will not be allowed to change their test city after ICAI CA admit cards are released.
- In case, the ICAI changes any test centre, candidates will be informed well in advance.
- At the ICAI CA exam centre, candidates must follow guidelines mentioned in their hal ticket.
- No electronic item will be allowed inside the CA exam centre, thus candidates must avoid carrying mobile phone, iwatch, ipad, calculators, digital watch, etc.

Q: How many attempts are allowed in CA course?
In the CA course, candidates can make any number of attempts until they clear a particular level. They will be eligible to register for the next level only after clearing the previous level. For example, a candidate needs to clear the CA Foundation level to be able to register for CA Intermediate. For appearing in CA Final exams, a candidate needs to clear both Foundation and Intermediate levels.
Since, the level of difficulty of this course is very high, a maximum percentage of students make multiple attempts. Candidates who decide to pursue CA course, need to make sure that they are well prepared to a marathon of studies, preparation and exams.
Q: What is the time duration of ICAI CA exams?
The time duration of ICAI CA exams varies for each paper. For some papers, the duration is three hours whereas for some papers it is two hours. The time limit of CA Foundation paper 3 and 4 is 2 hours and for the rest of the papers across levels is three hours. There is no sectional time limit in the CA exams. Candidates have to solve the paper in the given time frame. They must prepare in such a way that they are able to solve maximum questions in the given time limit.
The CA exams are conducted one paper per day and there is no break in between. Candidates have to complete the paper in one go.
Q: I have forgotten my ICAI login password. How do I download CA admit card?
If you’ve forgotten your login password, you don’t need to worry. You can recover/change it by using the forgot password feature.
To recover your password or create a new password for ICAI login, you can go to the login option on the homepage of official website, click on ‘forgot password’ option and follow the instructions. The new password will be created and you can use the new password, going forward. Keep the password safe or note it down so that you don’t have to keep changing it for every login attempt.
Q: How many times is ICAI CA exam held in a year?
CA exams for all the three levels are held twice in a year. The first phase exams are held in May and June and the second phase exams are held in November and December. Registrations for the May-June exams is held in February-March and registrations for November-December exams is done in August. Candidates can register and appear for the exam as per their preparation and articleship completion. For any phase of exam, they need to fill the form and pay exam fee through registered login ID.
