Q: What is the difference between the teaching methodology in your institute and others?
A: At Subhas Bose Institute of Hotel Management we focus on the application of management principles in the field of Hospitality. It involves not just study but hands-on work in the various operational areas of Hospitality management like Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping. We train students for a professional career in a broad category of fields within the service industry with both theoretical as well as practical knowledge so that they can understand the operation better.
Q: How are you preparing your students to be industry-ready?
A: At SBIHM, we offer practical classes to make students understand how exactly the operation system of the industry works. We conduct various industrial visits for students as well to make them understand the various trends of the industry. French being the highest spoken language in the world after English, the students also get an opportunity to develop themselves in a foreign language to get an edge in this competitive world.
Q: What quality do your students have which other college students lack?
A: An aspirant who wishes to make a career in hospitality/ hotel management should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and zeal for self-discipline. One must be cooperative, polite and respectful to the guests, and also have the patience to deal with guest’s criticism even when one knows that he/ she is right. At SBIHM, we start training our students from DAY 1 so that they can flourish in the professional world and quickly adapt to changes.
Q: Do you think the curriculum of the courses taught in your institute fits in the requirement of the industry?
A: At SBIHM, we offer Bachelor's and Master degree programme in the hospitality and healthcare sector with multiple specialisations that prepare students for the highly advanced and rapidly growing hospitality and healthcare sector. Every course we conduct provides students with life-long learning with skills to meet the challenges of the industry.
Q: Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship?
A: Innovation in the hotel industry is important because it has the capacity to transform the industry positively. Over the past few years, inventions in the hospitality industry have developed at a fast-moving pace. Although most service providers and hospitality-related services are doing their best to keep up with these rapid changes, new technology has helped the industry to grow. At SBIHM, we are trying to keep up with the pace and so, we train as well as educate students accordingly.
