Q:   What is the selection process for B.Tech and what is the minimum JEE score required at Capital University?

A:

The selection process for the B.Tech programme at Capital University is a multi-step procedure designed to identify and admit qualified candidates. The university does not specify a minimum GPA requirement for undergraduate admissions, but the GPA of recently admitted students for graduate programs has been between 3.1 and 3.0 (85%).

To initiate the process, prospective students must complete the application form, providing accurate and comprehensive information. This includes academic records, standardized test scores, and any other documents required by the university. The application is a crucial component as it serves as the candidate's first impression.

Once the application is submitted, it undergoes a thorough review by the admissions committee. The committee considers various factors, such as academic performance, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and personal statements. The aim is to assess the candidate's overall profile and potential to succeed in the chosen B.Tech program.

Sometimes, this may be a final round of interviews or organizational discussions. This step allows the university to interact directly with the candidates, gaining insights into their motivation, goals, and interpersonal skills. Interviews can be instrumental in determining a candidate's suitability for the program.

Furthermore, the selection process considers the university's popularity, the reputation of the B.Tech program, and the limited number of available seats. In 2022, the cutoff for the highly sought-after B.Tech in Computer Science programme was 98.5%, indicating the competitive nature of admissions.

The selection process at Capital University for B.Tech involves a holistic assessment of a candidate's academic and non-academic achievements. The university aims to admit students who excel academically and demonstrate qualities that align with the institution's values and objectives. The cutoff scores may vary for different B.Tech programs and applicants are encouraged to present a well-rounded application to enhance their chances of admission.

Q:   Which entrance exam scores are accepted by Capital University for admission?

A:

Capital University considers various factors for undergraduate admissions, and while standardized test scores like SAT and ACT are accepted, they are not the sole criteria. The university recognizes SAT scores between 970 and 1190, with an average SAT score composite of 1164. Similarly, ACT scores between 18 and 24 are accepted for admission.

In addition to standardized test scores, Capital University evaluates high school transcripts, with a preferred GPA or aggregate in the range of 3.1 to 3.8 (86-96%). This reflects the importance placed on academic performance throughout high school. Letters of recommendation, often from teachers or other relevant individuals, contribute to the overall assessment of an applicant's suitability for the university.

Moreover, Capital University requires applicants to submit a passport copy, emphasizing the international dimension of its student body. For non-native English speakers, English language proficiency is measured through scores such as TOEFL IBT (61) or IELTS (6.0).

The university's acceptance rate of 72% suggests a moderately selective admissions process. It's noteworthy that half of the admitted applicants who submitted test scores fall within the range of SAT scores between 960 and 1186 or ACT scores of 18 to 24.

Prospective students can use the admission calculator provided by Capital University to gauge whether their grades and test scores align with the university's admission standards. This comprehensive approach to admission criteria underscores the institution's commitment to considering various aspects of an applicant's academic and personal background.
