The registration process for admissions for the session 2020-21 in UG/PG/M.Phil/PhD courses of the University of Delhi is on hold till further orders.

Delhi University registration process for admission is on hold. Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus in the national capital, the University took this decision. Earlier, DU announced the extension of its closure until April 14 following the lockdown advisory by the government.

In an official statement, DU stated, ‘The registration process for admissions for the session 2020-21 in UG/PG/M.Phil/PhD courses of the University of Delhi is on hold till further orders.’

In order to practice social distancing as advised by the Prime Minister, the University decided to put its admission process on hold.

National Testing Agency (NTA), the authority responsible for organizing and conducting DU Entrance Test (DUET), for entrance-based UG courses and PG courses offered by the University, also postponed the application process for the Entrance exam.

According to the exam schedule released by NTA, the DUET application process was scheduled to start on April 2. However, the same is postponed due to a 21-day lockdown, until further notice.

Due to the COVID-19 spread and following nationwide lockdown, academic institutions are closed, examinations are suspended, and classes are deferred. It is quite evident that with class 12 board examinations and results delayed, college admission would be delayed too. DU begins its admission process for the merit-based course after the declaration of CBSE result, similarly, many state university begins their admission process after the declaration of state board result.

The COVID-19 outbreak has resulted in the postponement of several state board examinations as well as results including CBSE and CISCE. So far, the Bihar board is the only board that concluded its examination in the month of February. The board also managed to release its result in March.
