From Dreams to Reality: My Journey at Government Medical College Shahdol

My name is Anish Kumar Dubey. I am a 24 years old MBBS third-year student studying at Government Medical College Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh. My parents wanted me to study medicine, but we understood that coaching was required. However, we didn't know where to get it.

Challenges Faced

One of my relatives advised me to join Allen Kota for preparation, which was around INR 1 lakh rupees. But, I wasted that year while relishing the freedom Kota had to offer me. When the result came, I got 325. I was disheartened, and so were both my parents.

In 2019, I restarted coaching, but COVID-19 made us go back home. I worked so hard, and in 2020, I scored 492 in NEET but I couldn’t make it. Again, everybody got dejected but I thought to myself, not me.

Q:   Is Government Medical College, Shahdol worth considering?

A:
The flagship courses offered at Government Medical College, Shahdol are MBBS. The Institute has experienced faculty offering the best education to students. On the basis of Shiksha verified reviews, Government Medical College, Shahdol has a rating of 4 by students. The college's campuslife, placements, faculty and Infrastructure has been rated as 4, 5, 3 and 4 as per reviews by students.

Clearing NEET

I attempted NEET 2021 on 12 Sep 21 and got admission to Government Medical College, Shahdol. Truly today, I am a doctor because of those who considered it impossible for me to make it.

I was a General category student who cleared NEET, and as per my overall percentage, I got a seat in this reputed government medical college. Participation after being dropped three times was a dream I had ever wanted to come true. I was overjoyed to begin my dream course MBBS, which I had always aspired to pursue.

Experience at the College

It was a strange feeling when I was finally able to go to college. Respect, authority and responsibility belonged to me the moment the white coat hung on my shoulders with the stethoscope and all the medical equipment around me. My parents were happy seeing their son progress in this field.

Over time, we submerged ourselves in gaining new knowledge. In the first year, we also covered topics concerning the human body, and this involved handling cadavers. Organs, tissues, and cells: we studied Physiology and Biochemistry and performed tests on specimen humans. It was fascinating!

In the second year, we explored Pharmacology and Pathology which involved learning about bacteria, viruses and diseases. All in all, we received priceless impulses and experiences.

Last year, we were continuing the process and introduced the hospital visits—dealing directly with real patients. It has been tremendous so far to have practical sessions.

Everything has been fulfilling, and I am so privileged to be on this journey. The environment of Government Medical College Shahdol can be said to be my second home and has helped me build into a dwarf of a doctor being compassionate to my patients.
