Once the hostel room is allotted at Pune University, the student cannot change it for an entire academic year unless under certain circumstances.

Pune University, famously known as The Savitribai Phule Pune University provides accommodation facilities to more than 1221 students in its sprawling big campus. The university has a chain of seven boys’ hostels and six girls’ hostels. The seats are allotted department wise and the number of seats for each department depends on the number of students admitted. The seats are allotted to the students entirely on the basis of academic merit at the time of admission to the respective courses or as per the university norms at that time. There are no strict rules for room allotment for second-year students and it is done randomly using any suitable mechanism by the university. However, once the room is allotted, the student cannot change it for an entire academic year unless under certain circumstances.

International Students’ Hostel

The International Centre of the Savitribai Phule Pune University maintains two international hostels separately for men and women located inside the campus. The International Boys Hostel (IBH) consists of 96 rooms, whereas for the accommodation of girls, the International Transit House (ITH) has 42 rooms has around six 1BHK flats. The International Centre is responsible for the maintenance and security services of both the international hostels and the maintenance of the International Faculty Guest House comprising six fully furnished flats. The guest house, just like the hostel, caters to the need of international exchange guests and students.

Room allotment: Students can get desired rooms on the basis of first come first serve. There are single rooms, dual-sharing, triple-sharing and quadruple-sharing rooms for students to choose from. Single rooms have attached bathrooms while the others have a common group of stalls on each floor.
