I am no longer scared of coming out of my comfort zone and showcasing my skills, says Deepanshu
In my family, nearly everyone is from a Science background so I made up my mind that I will do something different. I came across a term called Human Resource Management & how HR Managers operate their work on day to day basis. This made me very fascinated about their lifestyle and way of working, and that was the movement for me where I decided to take Commerce as my main subject in Class 11 and 12.
After completing my graduation, I started working as an Operation’s Manager for a reputed company, but somewhere inside me that desire to work as an HR Manager was present and that was the time when I decided to pursue my post-graduation so I appeared MAHA CET and started searching for good colleges which have good teachers because I believe in the term “guru brahma, guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara” & that neither the rank nor the name matters all that matters is great teachers, which I found in GNVSIOM.
Why I selected GNVS Institute of Management is because while I was doing my Graduation I went to an event at an excellent college where I saw a lot of confident students managing everything with such ease and all the teachers who all were present there were very supportive and sweet and that amount of excellence in work made me realise that this is the college where I want to pursue my graduation from and that college was GNVSIOM.
How I cracked the Entrance Exam
Cracking the exam was the most difficult part for me as while others were studying and preparing for the exams, I was there going to my work and doing day and night shifts so that made things a bit complicated for me but yes I had a clear goal in my mind that if I want to score good marks in the exam I had to study at any cost. So whenever I had breaks in my shift I used to study at that time. Then I filled the form of MAHA CET and started preparing for it. The only thing I had done to prepare myself for the exams is that I bought a book on how to clear MAT & started reading materials from the internet and prepared myself for the exams.
No, I have not taken any coaching for the Entrance Examination, whatever I have done is through books and YouTube videos.
While the admissions were supposed to start, unfortunately, Covid happened and everything got shut down because of it and I had to wait for around one year at my home for the result to come out and admission to start, also I managed to get a sufficient score which I needed to join GNVS so there was not much of an issue while opting for it.
College Life and Opportunities
Thanks to Pandemic I have been to college only once for a project but yes most of my time goes in online classes and events organised by the college where I got to meet a lot of new people in my class and got introduced to the wonderful team of faculties who all are always there for us to help us in our overall development. I personally attend all the classes and lectures which are happening in the college as I have a concept of gaining as much knowledge as possible from anywhere and everywhere. I was the host for events and guest lectures. I along with my friends have conducted a Quiz as well as I have been the part of nearly all the competitions which have taken place in our college. If given a chance I would plan an open up session where people can share their knowledge and experience and can remove their stage fear.
College experience till now has been life-changing for me as I feel more motivated and confident now, I am no longer scared of coming out of my comfort zone and showcasing myself in front of anyone, my morale got high and my basic knowledge about management is improved drastically as now I know how to manage my time and money in a much better way.
I can see a lot of opportunities in the future also as our college is constantly bringing a lot of reputed and knowledgeable people for guest lectures who all are teaching us a lot of new things and sharing their life experiences from which we can learn a lot of new things and understand how we can improve in life. I see good companies coming in for placements as well as a lot of new experiences coming for us in the future.
Future Plans
Plans for the future are finishing my bucket list while working as an HR Manager for a reputed firm and becoming the best in what I do as being average is never an option in my life.
A few of my plans after my MBA is to –
- Go on a World tour
- Working as an HR Manager in a MNC
- Starting my own business after gaining enough money and experience.
- Doing social work and working with NGO’s.
- Becoming a teacher to share the knowledge and experience which I will gain in the corporate world.
That’s it, those are the long-term and short-term goals of my life and my future plans.
