Q:   Can I get admission in SVIMS for MMS with 60% in Class 12th?

A:
Getting admission in Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) for a Master of Medical Surgery (MMS) programme with a 60% score in Class 12th may not be possible, as the institute typically requires a higher percentage in the qualifying examination for MBBS admission. However, there are other factors to consider, such as the NEET exam and the counselling process. SVIMS offers a total of 11 undergraduate programs, including B.Sc. Nursing and B.P.T. The admission process for these programs is based on the rank in Andhra Pradesh EAMCET (Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test). Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria, which may include a minimum score of 25% in Andhra Pradesh EAMCET. For the MMS program, candidates must have completed an MBBS degree from an MCI-accredited medical school and have completed an internship. Candidates with a NEET PG exam rank are also eligible to apply. The admission process for the MMS programme involves participating in the MCC NEET Counselling or Andhra Pradesh NEET Counselling (Conducted by YSRUHS) for admission to All-India Quota or State Quota Seats, respectively. In summary, while a 60% score in Class 12th may not be sufficient for admission to SVIMS for the MMS program, you can still consider applying for other undergraduate programs offered by the institute. Additionally, you can work on improving your NEET exam scores and participate in the counselling process to increase your chances of getting admitted to SVIMS for the MMS program.

Q:   Does SVIMS offer better placements than GNVS Institute of Management?

A:
It is difficult to definitively say whether SVIMS offers better placements than GNVS Institute of Management, as the quality of placements can vary depending on factors such as the specific course, specialization, and individual student performance. However, here is a comparison of the placements offered by both institutions:
SVIMS:
  • Around 99% of students get placed in the college
  • The highest salary package offered is 18 LPA
  • Top recruiting companies include the London Stock Exchange, Haldiram, Ajmal and Sons, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Life, Bajaj Allianz, CRISIL, and Nomura

GNVS Institute of Management:

  • The institute has top recruiters like Google, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, and The Boston Consulting Group
While SVIMS seems to have a higher placement rate and a wider range of top recruiting companies, it is essential to consider factors such as the specific course, specialization, and individual student performance when comparing the two institutions.

Q:   What is the selection process for MMS and what is the minimum CAT score required?

    A:
The selection process for MMS programs typically involves a combination of entrance exam scores, academic performance, and other factors such as personal interviews and group discussions. The minimum CAT score required for MMS programs varies depending on the institution and the year. For example, IIM A announced a reduction in the minimum CAT cutoff to 80% for general category students in 2017-2019. However, other sources suggest that regular colleges must have a minimum CAT percentile of 70th to 80th for MMS programs. The selection process for MMS programs usually consists of the following stages:
    1. Entrance Exam Score: Candidates are required to have a valid score in a recognised management entrance exam such as CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, or AT
    2. Shortlisting: Institutions shortlist candidates based on their entrance exam scores and other factors, such as academic performance, gender, diversity of qualifications, etc.
    3. Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates are invited for a personal interview, which is an essential component of the selection process
    4. Group Discussion (GD) or Written Admission Test (WAT): Candidates may also be required to participate in a group discussion or write a written admission test as part of the selection process
    5. Final Selection: The final selection is based on the performance in the personal interview, group discussion, and written admission test, along with the candidate's academic performance and other factors
It is essential to check the specific admission criteria of the institution you are interested in, as the minimum CAT score required and the selection process may vary.
