Self-study is the best learning method one can adopt in their life, Raman Grover
Choosing between Commerce, Science and Arts is one of the difficult decisions one has to take after Class 10 exams. It requires a lot of analysis and interpretations as a good decision can make someone’s future bright or vice versa. As Commerce has a wider scope and also I was good with numbers, I decided to choose this stream as my core subject in Class 11 and 12. Gradually, I developed interest in accounting, which motivated me to pursue a career in the related field. This is how I landed up doing BCom.
The hunt for a good college is even more difficult. I chose JIMS Kalkaji - Jagannath International Management School over other commerce institutes because it is one of the finest colleges affiliated to GGSIPU. I checked the reviews of the institute on Google and various other platforms and basis my research I finally decided to join the college.
After Class 12 exams, I applied for the IPU Common Entrance Test (CET) for BCom(Hons.) and for preparing for the entrance test, I did not choose to undergo any coaching classes. I think that self- study is the best learning method one can adopt in their life. The only motivation you need is to set a goal and start working on the same to get good results. I borrowed some of the books from the library and started practising logical reasoning, quants on my own. I was well prepared for the exam and the results proved that. I finally got admission in JIMS, Kalkaji.
It was August 2, 2016, when I entered college for the first time. I was scared as well as excited to meet new people and start our new journey, but you know how time flies. The college life also flew like that and we are left with tones of memories. Whether it was our first industrial visit to Parle or further industrial visits to Mother Dairy, Coca Cola and other giants, all were amazing and we learnt a lot. Our first college trip to Mcleodganj, we all enjoyed a lot there and also our last college trip to Shimla everything was amazing. These three years have been the best phase of my life. I got introduced to best of teachers, friends who helped me every time. They all played a major role in my life as from being a shy person in the beginning of college life to the confident person that I am today, all the credit goes to my teachers and friends. They provided me with best of advice, guidance and all possible support whenever I needed it.
And, the most interesting thing about my college is parents-teachers meet at the end of every semester. Barely, any other college must be organinig this kind of connects.
I remember the last time when we were coming back after giving the final year exam we all had tears in our eyes. After all, we were meeting our friends for the last time in our college life, but now all these are memories and I thank a lot JIMS for providing me all these memories.
