There's more to life than marks and good grades; in the end what we learned matters the most, says Karthik
I chose Computer Science as a course of study because the world is moving towards digitilisation at a fast pace. Everything now a days is computer-operated and is becoming an immortal and integral part of life. Looking at this fast development, I chose Computer Science as my core subject in Class 11 and 12. I was in touch with some of our school seniors who showed us their projects in architecture and explained to us about the course. After Class 12 exams, there comes the most difficult decision of a student’s lives, to draw his own career path. These architecture projects got me excited and I decided to take it up as my career. I appeared for the entrance exam and cleared the same.
After deciding the career, it was not much difficult to choose the college. I wanted to go to Crescent School of Architecture (B.S.Abdur Rahman University) as a step forward towards the achievement of my dreams. As a part of its admission process, the applicant has to undergo NATA exam and clear it with good marks. I studied hard before the exam, underwent the 15 days of intense training with the help of study material available on Google, some sample papers, previous years question papers and most importantly suggestions from seniors who are either pursuing Architecture or have completed their graduation. I appeared for the exam and I was able to score well.
The curriculum at CSA has been designed in a way that students spend most of the time in studios working on the design and other stuff. I like to attend the theory and digital design or computational design classes the most.
I believe, the college plays a vital role in the transformation of a students’ personality to some extent. I have listed down some of the evident changes, that I feel in myself:
- I can handle criticism better now as compared to four years ago as we have a lot of reviews and critics in this five-year course
- I learned time management which is one of the important aspect needed for this course
- There's more to life than marks and good grades because in the end what we learned matters the most
- Most importantly, college is not just about the education, but also the friends we make and the life lessons we gather along the journey
- Teamwork, which I learned during this course also helped me during my internship course
During the five-year of the curriculum, we have had various opportunities of working in an architecture firm, with an interior designer, product designer or practising the live projects. And, similar will be the opportunities ahead. I feel I am more confident than I was four years back and I ready to take up the corporate career.
I aspire to be an entrepreneur in the future. But, for that, I need to strengthen my skills a little more so I would be going for post-graduation first.
