Overview

Maharani College, Jaipur, ranked 3rd amongst the best colleges of Arts in Jaipur by India Today (2017), is a constituent college of the University of Rajasthan. It was established in 1944 in the capital city, under the name of Maharani Gayatri Devi, to encourage female education in the state of Rajasthan. Despite being a government institution, Maharani College, Jaipur offers all the necessary amenities to its students. Even in terms of placement and internship opportunities, this college does not lag behind at all. There is an active placement cell that consists of faculty members from different departments.

The members of the Maharani College placement cell are very resourceful, and the group is quite effective. They constantly exhort the students to present themselves in the best possible light. The cell serves as a link between the student's aspirations and the business world and its numerous well-known corporations. In terms of jobs after college, students are prepared for the same. They receive instructions on effective communication and interviewing techniques.

Due to this efficient placement cell, a good number of students get recruited by widely known companies in high-demand roles every academic year. According to the data collected in 2021, the maximum salary offered during the placements was INR 10 lacs per annum, while the lowest salary was INR 8 lacs per annum.

Leading companies such as Videocon, BTCE-Trade IT Services Pvt. Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services, Trufin Finances, HCL, Fortis Hospitals, Apollo, Art Forte, GREEN Pvt. Ltd, Godrej, Wipro, Infosys, DATTS education etc. offer various roles in different fields. Other companies, such as Barclays, offer internships to interested students with a high stipend.

Top Courses with the highest placement percentage

The average percentage of placements in Maharani College, Jaipur is 40–50% as the number of candidates who apply for the same is low. Around 70% of the candidates get internships ranging from 6 months to a year with a high stipend offered. According to the data recorded in 2019, a total of 26 students got placed, including 13 students from Computer Application, 8 from Science, 4 from Arts and 1 student from Commerce.

Maharani College offers two courses that are self-financed (government-funded): Bachelor of Computer Application and Bachelor of Business Administration. These two, being the most professional courses, have the highest rate of students who get placed during the placement procedure. However, with most BBA students aiming for an MBA, a Bachelor's in Computer Application often has the highest percentage of the batch placed.

A number of students from the Bachelor of Commerce, Arts, and Science programmes also get high-paying jobs or internships as a result of this process.

According to recently collected data, the highest package offered in the BCA stream was INR 3 lacs per annum and the average package offered was INR 2 lacs per annum. On the other hand, for BBA, the highest salary package offered was INR 4 lacs per annum and the average salary package offered was INR 3 lacs per annum, with the minimum package being 2 lacs per annum.

Meanwhile, for Bachelor of Commerce students (2021), around 60% of the batch got placed. The highest salary package offered was INR 8 lacs per annum, while the average salary package offered was INR 4 lacs per annum.

Placement procedure during the Covid-19 Pandemic

In the last few years, due to the pandemic, there have been a lot of changes in the placement process. The number of students being hired has also been reduced. Still, Maharani College, Jaipur, alongside the University of Rajasthan, made sure to provide its students with all the information and resources regarding placement opportunities even during the pandemic, without fail. Online interviews, educational webinars and workshops on soft skills development and placement training were all held during the lockdown on Zoom and other platforms.
