QS Rankings 2022: IIT Bombay India’s most employable institute

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, five other IITs also make it to the list.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is the most employable institute in the country, as per the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022. The institute moved up to the 101-110 group from 111-120 group in 2020. IIT Bombay is followed by IIT Delhi, which has jumped from the 151-160 band to the 131-140 group, and IIT Madras, which has risen from the 171-180 band to the 151-160 category. 

12 Indian institutions ranked among 550 institutions globally

A total of 12 Indian higher education institutes have made it to global 550 employable colleges. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and six IITs are among 12 Indian institutions which have figured in the top 500 universities in QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022, which were announced on Thursday.  

While three central and state universities — Delhi University, University of Mumbai and University of Calcutta have made it to the list, among the private universities in the list are OP Jindal Global University, Sonepat, and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani.

India’s national employability leader – those implementing the nation’s strongest employability processes and achieving the strongest employability outcomes – IIT Bombay,” said QS Quacquarelli Symonds, global higher education analysts, in a statement. The parameters used to calculate employability rankings are: Employer reputation (30 per cent weightage), alumni outcomes (25 per cent weightage), partnerships with employers per faculty (25 per cent weightage), employer/student connections (10 per cent weightage) and graduate employment rate (10 per cent weightage).  

Meanwhile, IIT Madras has achieved India’s highest location-adjusted Graduate Employment Rate score (100/100, 4th globally). This makes IIT Madras the only Indian institution to achieve a top-50 score for this metric.
