According to the reports, before he tested positive, the boy was appearing for his SSC board examinations, along with other 36 students at the exam centre in south Mumbai.
On March 23, a 15-year old boy from Mumbai tested positive for Covid-19. According to the reports, before he tested positive, the boy was appearing for his SSC board examinations, along with other 36 students at the exam centre in south Mumbai. After the test results of the boy came positive, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) came into action and made a list of all the students who came in contact with the boy while appearing for the examination at the same exam centre. The corporation took their swab samples for testing.
In order to locate the students, a list with the names of the students along with their residential address and parents’ names were shared with the concerned wards. Maharashtra state board was conducting the SSC examination according to the schedule until last week. However, the Board later postponed the examination until March 31, considering the risk of spreading COVID-19 among students and staff members.
While commenting on the matter, Mahesh Palkar, Education Officer MCGM, stated that the corporation successfully located all the students and took their swab test. The procedure will be followed once the results of these tests will be out.
The father of the boy (who is tested positive) has a travel history to Delhi. He returned from Delhi to Mumbai on March 12 and started developing the symptoms by March 20. Later, the man was tested positive due to which the student and other family members had to go under the test as well.
So far, the total number of positive cases in Maharashtra is 107 (Highest in India). Stressing upon the critical condition of the state, Maharashtra CM advised the citizens to maintain social distancing and control the spread of the pandemic.
