Many students have been tweeting to CBSE requesting to postpone the examinations. While the state governments have ordered to close down schools and other academic institutions till March 31 to avoid mass gathering and the spread of coronavirus, the Board examinations are being conducted as scheduled.
With the outbreak of COVID-19/Coronavirus all across the world, the education system has got fractured. State governments are releasing orders of shutdown for schools, colleges, universities. Academic institutions are asking students to vacant hostels and cancel seminars, workshops, meetings, travel plans, convocation ceremonies, and all the events that require outside participation. Amid this emergency crisis, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting examinations till April 14.
In the view of COVID-19 that has affected almost 110 people in India, students and parents are worried about their safety while appearing for the Board examinations. Many students have been tweeting to CBSE requesting to postpone the examinations. While the state governments have ordered to close down schools and other academic institutions till March 31 to avoid mass gathering and the spread of coronavirus, the Board examinations are being conducted as scheduled.
In response to the queries on Coronavirus, CBSE stated that the Board is taking appropriate precautions at the exam centres for all the students who are appearing for the examinations. It further stated that the conduction of CBSE examination is a policy matter that is decided by the competent authority only in the interest of CBSE Schools' students of Class X and XII. However, the authorities are taking all the necessary precautions at the examination centre to avoid undesirable infection.
Earlier, the Board had to postpone a few examinations within the last week of February and the first week of March in the riots affected northeast parts of Delhi. The decision was taken in favor of the students residing in the riots affected areas. The CBSE examinations that were supposed to be concluded by March 30th will now be conducted till April 14 for all the students who missed their examinations.
