Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has announced that SSC exam in the state will be held within the eight days of the end of the coronavirus lockdown period.
Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad clarified that the board had never cancelled any SSC exam in the state, and is planning to hold the same within eight days of the end of the lockdown period.
While talking to a noted media house, she said, "We are planning to conduct the Maharashtra SSC exam, after the lockdown period, however, if it does not work out, we need to look out for other options. We are considering to go ahead with the best of five rule, where the marks of five subjects will be considered out of the six exams that were held before the lockdown. We will be able to take any decision on this only after April 15."
When asked about whether there will be a delay in the Maharashtra SSC and HSC result announcement, Gaikwad said that teachers were directed to take SSC and HSC papers home for assessment after March 31. However, with the current situation in the country due to coronavirus pandemic, they have been asked to do the same after April 14.
"We had planned to announce the Maharashtra SSC results early this year, around the same time as other boards, but we won't be able to. Our main aim was to finish the junior college admission process on time, to avoid carrying it until October," she added.
Responding to the current education situation in the state amid the coronavirus outbreak, she informed that the Board hopes to be able to conduct exams for classes 9, 11 too. And if the situation doesn't permit that, then the Board will have to promote all the students of these two classes as well.
