Benefitting from the self-centre policy, more girl students will now be sitting for UP Board examinations in their own school.
The UP Government, for the first time, has taken a decision to make government-run, government-aided and unaided girls’ schools as exam centres on a priority basis, provided they meet all the eligibility requirements for 2021 examinations. The next year will mark the 100th year of the UP Board’s foundation.
This will allow more girls to appear in the UP Board 10th and UP Board 12th examinations in their own schools, getting the self-centre policy benefit, according to the board officials.
As per the board exam centre allotment policy 2021, the board is expected to increase the number of examination centres across the state to ensure proper social distancing among the examinees. The schools which do not have main access roads that are at least 10 feet wide would not be made UP Board exam centres, according to the policy.

If a co-education school is made an examination centre, then the girl students at least would be assigned their own schools in the UP Board exams, as per the self-centre policy that was there in place even in earlier years. This would enable more girls appearing in the examination this year at their own schools even than before.
The number of examination centres is expected to be over 12,000 this time. In such a situation, students will not have to travel long distances to take the exams. In the last few years, out of the total students registered for class 10 and class 12, the percentage of girl students sitting in the examination has been around 44 to 45%.
UP Board conducted its first exam in 1923 that saw 5,655 students appearing in its high school exam and around 89 students appearing in the intermediate exam. In 2020, the State Board witnessed over 5.4.3 lakh students appearing in its examinations.
Meanwhile, UP Board 10th time table 2021 as well as UP Board 12th time table 2021 is expected to be released by the end of December. Reportedly, the UP Board is planning to further reduce the syllabus 2020-21. Earlier the syllabus was reduced by 30% syllabus of Class 10 and 12 for the academic year 2020-21.
