Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to reduce the syllabus by 30 percent for classes 9 to 12.

The Uttar Pradesh Government has announced that it has reduced the syllabus for the current academic session by 30 per cent for Classes 9 to 12. The government has reduced the syllabus on the basis of the number of working days of school. Earlier, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has cut down 30 per cent of the syllabus as one time measure for the year 2020-21 for classes 9 to 12 considering the reduction in classroom teaching time due to coronavirus outbreak that leads to the closure of schools.

The syllabus reduced will also affect the UP Board Exams 2021. As per the information, no question will be asked in the UP 10th and UP 12th exams to be conducted in 2021 from the deducted syllabus. It applied to Class 9 and 11 too. The Board is planning to complete UP 10th Board Syllabus and UP 12th Board Syllabuson time to help students prepare for their UP Board Exams 2021.

“The government will be conducting classes on the remaining 70 per cent syllabus which has been divided into three sections,” said Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma. As per the division of syllabus, in the first part, class-wise, subject-wise and chapter-wise videos will be created by the teachers that will be broadcasted to students through Doordarshan and during the online classes. The second part will contain the study material for students that can study on their own. And the third part will comprise of project work to be done by students.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the experts have been asked to come up with the academic time table. On the basis of that, an academic calendar and concomitant curriculum will be formed. Sharma said “standard operating procedures (SOP)” will be issued to schools, districts and divisions, apart from an overall statewide SOP, for the purpose of studies, evaluation and monitoring. The evaluation will be conducted every fortnight, month and annually, he added.

Other states, like Haryana, Gujarat, Goa, Punjab and Rajasthan have also announced that it has decided to reduce the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 for this academic session.
