The Chandigarh Law College, Jhanjeri Organises 1st Internal Youth Parliament

March 15, 2023: The first Internal Youth Parliament was held on February 17, 2023, at the Auditorium of Block-II, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri by the Chandigarh Law College. The B.A.LL.B., B.Com.LL.B., BBA.LL.B., and LL.B. students took part in the activity. He participated in several posts in Punjab. He continued to serve as the Andaman & Nicobar Administration's Legal Secretary after being chosen by the UPSC. In 2004, he was promoted to a judgeship in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. From May 10 until May 30, 2016, he served as the Haryana Backward Classes Commission's chairman.

Youth Parliament is organised to make students understand the legislative procedure. It enables the pupils to get an understanding of how the Parliament functions. Judge Som Nath Aggarwal and Prof. (Dr.) Tufail Ahmed Khan, the director of Chandigarh Law College, welcomed the chief guest to the event at 2:45 p.m. Ankita Sharma and Lubhanshi coordinated the stage. In his welcome remarks, Prof. (Dr.) Tufail Ahmed Khan expressed gratitude to Judge S. N. Aggarwal for accepting the invitation. The first Internal Youth Parliament proceedings started following the Director's speech. The event's start was signalled by the student Speaker. Oaths or affirmations were made to begin the session.

Eight students posed a range of inquiries on topics such as the military, the media, education, trade unions, business and commerce, money, excise taxes, and civil aviation. Amendments in Bills was the next item on the house's schedule. A bill to make sex crimes against males illegal was amended by one of the ruling party's ministers. The introduction of new bills was the next item on the house's agenda. Due to a lack of a majority, one of the measures expired, and the other was not considered since the Speaker's authorization was not sought in advance for that Private Bill. Conflicts about the curriculum came up. The Prime Minister responded to several questions the Leaders of the Opposition had towards the end. After the Prime Minister's remarks, the Speaker called the meeting to order. Following the proceedings, Chief Guest Justice S. N. Aggrawal spoke. He began with words of appreciation for the students. He was impressed by the manner in which the youngsters conducted themselves throughout the Youth Parliament debates. He noted that the kids had demonstrated how legislative proceedings ought to be run. He offered four mantras for achieving success in life. The first step is to select their area of interest, the profession in which they wish to work, and any competitive exams for the civil service, judicial, advocate, or other fields.

Innovation by Civil Engineering Students of CGC Jhanjeri

April 1, 2021: The Civil Engineering students of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri have come up with innovative ideas to address the urgent issue of traffic congestion at Landran crossing, including a short-term, low-cost solution and a long-term, permanent solution that will cost more money and time. The students conducted a thorough survey of the area around the T-Junction that has developed at this crossing. They came to the conclusion that the main cause of the traffic jam is a huge number of students leaving Mohali and turning left towards CGC Landran, Tangori, Banur, and other destinations, as well as nearly an equal number of people turning right towards CGC Jhanjeri, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Kharar. CGC Jhanjeri's Civil Engineering students have discovered barren land near this crossing. If a 7.5 m wide slip road, about 127 m long, is built from a point about 90 m before this crossing up to CGC Landran, and another slip road from CGC Landran of the same width and about 214 m lengths, meeting Landran-Sirhind Road (SH 12A) as shown in the map of these roads shown above, the traffic density can be reduced to less than half. Both of these slip roads, which cost about Rs. 20 lakh each, would be very useful in reducing traffic congestion at this busy crossing. The second solution proposed by these students is a one-of-a-kind flyover that they produced some time ago. However, this is a costly and time-consuming proposal. The planned flyover is also shown in the drawing above.

Dr GD Bansal, Director General, stated that CGC Jhanjeri students transform their creative ideas into realistic ventures that benefit society. Because of this, our students' projects from all disciplines have received awards at national level competitions, IITs, Pushpa Gujral Science City, and other prestigious institutions.

Unfiltered reality of CGC.

Placements: Very low placement rate. The quality of their placements is not very satisfactory. The packages provided are not on par with what is advertised about the college. The average package is 4 Lacs, which is very disappointing. Companies are usually the ones with not very high potential.

Okay college, the faculty is good, but other than that, it’s just okay.

Placements: Before entering the college, what I thought was extreme placements of 30-40 Lacs, but after spending 1 year here, I see that max to max the placement goes till 9 or 10 Lacs, and this is for MBA. For the majority, it is between 5 to 7 or 8 Lacs for B.Teach, but for BCA, it's around 3 LPA. They have banners for placements like 6 Lacs or 7 Lacs.
