CMR Institute of Technology offers a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) course in both full-time and part-time modes. The minimum duration of full-time course is three years, and the maximum period for completion of the course is five years. The minimum and maximum time period for submission of the thesis by part-time research scholars is four and six years, respectively.

CMR Institute of Technology offers entrance exam-based admission to PhD. Apart from academic qualifications, part-time candidates must have one-year professional work experience after graduation. • Selection: Entrance exam (ULRAT Entrance Test) score + Pre-Registration interview at VTU Headquarters, Belgaum
