There are far better colleges available for Media Science in Kolkata itself than this one.
Placements: Due to Covid, most of the students were not placed. Among the few that were, they were sent to companies that can't even be compared to the standards one may expect while passing out of this institution. Most students got placements in news companies such as Kolkata Tv and Colors Bangla, contrary to the initial promises of placing in film production houses, which were later scrapped with the reason given being the coronavirus pandemic.
Infrastructure: The facilities available in classrooms and infrastructure-wise were average, not bad but rather underwhelming when compared to the amount of fees that they charge. While there are smart classrooms and libraries with a good collection of books present, most of the time they can't be used due to being damaged and not being replaced by authorities. Hostels were not available, but there were rooms and flats available within walking distance. The canteen food quality was average, and the medical facilities, sports, and games were in the okay category.
Faculty: The teachers and the faculty were knowledgeable and qualified in their positions. They were approachable and quite helpful in teaching and providing support to the students in every way they could. The course curriculum could have been better as they kept changing specialization courses in the later years due to faculty members not being available to teach during the pandemic. I don't believe the curriculum made the students industry-ready in any way as it was mostly theoretical, and less focus was given on practical aspects. Also, as mentioned earlier, the course specializations changed, which altered the whole curriculum, at least for me.
Other: There are many things that could improve in the curriculum of Media Science. They can start by injecting practical aspects and things that would actually be useful for students in their professional life later. Scholarships are offered in some departments. The crowd and campus life were some of the positive points of this institution. There was an annual fest known as Flames where every department participated, and also students from other colleges joined. Apart from that, there were fests like Kulrav and Inception, which were department special fests. Campus life was also good, and it felt like being part of a bigger family in those years.

Teachers and infrastructure are good, and students are facilities with a lot of opportunities.
Placements: I am studying in the 2nd semester, so I did not face any placements until now. But I am informed and have heard about good placement opportunities are provided here. Well-reputed media channels visit our college, and top roles are offered to the students with good salary packages.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is quite impressive, and the college facilitates us with a lot of opportunities. Specialised Mac labs are provided along with a library which has both books and digital option if needed. We are even provided with Wi-Fi for our official works. It has a quite large area for games. Canteen is pocket friendly and serves delicious food.
Faculty: The best part of this college is its faculty members. Professors are very helpful and kind enough to clear out all the doubts. They are quite friendly, and we are provided with all the notes, PDFs and even audio-visual classes. There are many curriculum activities which make us future-ready and helps us learn a lot of new things.
Other: I have chosen this course because I am interested in the media. The best thing about this course is we are given equal practical sessions as theory. Both the fields are well taken care of. Events and fests are one of the major attractions, and the crowd is breathtaking.

Is soo over the moon, seeing such a friendly environment in our BMS department!
Placements: Since I'm currently in my 2nd semester I don't exactly know about placements but our seniors got placed both outside and inside Kolkata. News agencies like Kolkata TV, the statesman, India TV and radio stations like 91.9 Friends FM approach us through our faculty for recruitment purposes, either to provide jobs or internships. There is a training cell that prepares every student for job interviews. One can pursue this course if you want to be a Radio Jockey, PR manager, journalist or someone with a passion for film making and television.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our department is far better than the other departments of this college. Air-conditioned classrooms with smart class facilities are present. There is a MAC lab which remains available for students whenever they want to use it for any work or learning purpose. The library is quite good and helps us with almost every reference book that we ask for and if not, they provide us with ample notes and pdfs which helps too. Wi-Fi is available.
Faculty: Our faculty members are highly qualified and immensely knowledgeable as every one of them has worked professionally in various fields and companies and some are still working, hence resulting in such great experience. Teachers here teach as per a student's requirement be it through smart class sessions or lectures as preferred by students. This course is more practical based as it prepares us how we should work on whatever fields we are thrown into.

Q:   Does Future Institute of Engineering and Management have good placements?

A:

Placements of this college are average. You can not expect very high packages from this college especially if you are studying B.Tech from here. As per the records average CTC of 2022 was 3.4 LPA ,2021 was 1.8 LPA and 2020 it was 3.38 LPA. the highest CTC in 2022 was around 11 LPA and it was 6 LPA for 2021 and 2020. Many companies visit college for placements such as Amazon, Deloitte, Cognizant, TCS etc. As per data provided by college in 2023 Cognizant was their top recruiter followed by MINDTREE and TCS. Same can be seen in all the other branches of engineering and in MCA.

Taking about MBA median package can be seen falling because in 2020 it was 6 LPA, 2021 it was 3.5 LPA and 2022 it was 3 LPA. The graph of this college with respect to salaries offered in placement is seen to be falling from past few years.

Talking about  campus placement percentage- In 2022, 85 percent of students were placed, in 2021 it was 78 percent and 83 percent of students got placed from here.

Overall placements of FIEM is average and one needs to work hard and try offcampus for better opportunities.

Hi Shiladitya, No, FMS-Delhi does not provide all of these equipment to you. However, FMS Delhi hardly charges you anything to complete your MBA compared to other B-Schools of the same pedigree so you can buy these equipment and several other useful items and still have loads of money left.
