Is B.E./B.Tech at G Pullaiah College of Engineering and Technology (GPCET) a good choice?

Here's a summary of the pros and cons based on the reviews:

    Pros:
    * Good job opportunities for students in computer Science and ECE departments, with companies like DXC, TechMahindra, TCS, and others visiting the campus.
    * Placements: nearly 70% of students are placed every year, with the highest package reaching up to INR21 LPA, and the average package ranging from INR4-11 LPA.
    * Infrastructural facilities: modern laboratories, air-conditioned classrooms, and a good library.
    * Supportive faculty: many professors have PhDs and are knowledgeable in their fields.

    Cons:
    * Self-study becomes essential from the third year onwards, as lectures are scarce.
    * Strict regulations: CCTV surveillance in classrooms, rigid examination system, and limited freedom in the hostel.
    * Limited facilities for core branches: only CSE students have access to computers in the lab.
    * High fees for hosting: around INR72,000 per year, increasing by INR4,000 annually.
    * Quality of food: reported to be good, but expensive.
    * Limited sports and recreational facilities: only available for boys.
    * Limited availability of medical facilities.
    * Some students report difficulties in dealing with certain faculty members.
    * Competition for placements is intense, particularly in IT sectors.

Ultimately, while GPCET has its strengths and weaknesses, it seems that students can benefit from studying here, especially in computer Science and ECE departments. However, it's crucial to weigh the pros and cons carefully before making a decision.

A home away from home (GPCET) experience.
Placements: In placement activity in 2022, 90% of students were hired. Now, in 2023 and 2024, 60% of students were hired by companies. The highest package in my college is 25 LPA, and the lowest is 3 LPA. Top companies in the recruitment process include TCS, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, etc. The college provides internships for all students. Roles depend on the companies: Java Developer, Data Science Engineer, Data Analyst, and different domains.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities are good in college. Lab facilities are good, including core lab facilities and computer/desktop facilities. For girls, campus hostel is available, and rooms are good. For boys, no hostel facility is inside the campus. The college has good medical facilities. For sports, good facilities are available like cricket nets, grounds, a volleyball court, a big basketball court, indoor games, tennis court, table tennis, and gym facilities. A city bus facility is also available for students. The campus canteen is good.
Faculty: The faculty are strong in academics. All faculty are qualified in their discipline and have good knowledge of the subjects. They teach really well and in an understandable way. If we have any concerns about topics, we can directly approach and ask them. The faculty are friendly. Most students are now looking for the IT industry, and campus provides all types of facilities for IT and core sectors. GATE teaching is also there. Semester exams are not that difficult because they teach really well. The pass percentage is good, but I don't know exactly.
Other: I chose this course because I did a Diploma in the same stream, so I chose B.Tech as well. I am interested in the semiconductor industry, so I chose this course. There are strict rules and regulations in college. Many events in the college are held, like the college fest, fresher day, annual day, graduation day, and many department and sports events conducted by the college.

Great infrastructure and placements, but curriculum needs industry alignment.
Placements: The percentage of students placed in our college is 50-75%, and the average package is 12 Lacs. The lowest package is 3 Lacs per annum. The top companies are TCS, Accenture, and Microsoft. Top roles for CSE students in our college are Software Engineer, Data Scientist, and Product Manager.
Infrastructure: In our college, classes are large, and fans and ACs are available. Labs are in good condition, and systems in the lab are too. The library in our college is the best place for all students, with a peaceful environment. The college is also good for sports and encourages games.
Faculty: Faculty are knowledgeable and helpful, especially in core technical subjects. Most engineering colleges employ teachers with Masters or doctoral degrees in their fields. Faculty are approachable for clearing doubts, guiding projects, and providing career advice.
Other: Events and Fest are important to attract the students to choose our college.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of strict rules and faculty.
Placements: The percentage of students who were placed in our course is 70%. The average package offered in our course is between 4 and 11 LPA. The top recruiting company in our course is IBM Amazon. The percentage of students who got internships from our course is 60%. Roles offered by IEEE.
Infrastructure: Satisfied hostel. Very strict rules, no medical facilities, no library permission, poor quality of food. No sports or games. Students are forced to study. Basically, I am a scholar student. But my friends who were in the hostel complained more about it.
Faculty: No teachers were helpful, but all faculty are qualified. Average teaching quality. I don't think so, but some of the students reach the industry. Semester exams are very difficult. Pass percentage is 80%. Most of the faculty are knowledgeable and technical.
Other: Because it has both hard and soft core sides.

Good infrastructure with Wi-Fi, girls' hostel, hygienic canteen, friendly teachers.
Placements: Till now, 10% of students have been placed. The highest package is 25 LPA, the average package is 4 LPA, and the lowest package is 4.5 LPA. Accenture, Cognizant, Infosys, and IBM are the top recruitment companies. 25% of students got internships from different companies. The top roles are Testing, Software engineering, Software Developer, etc.
Infrastructure: Good infrastructure. The college provides Wi-Fi facilities to the students, and there is a girls' hostel available on our campus. The canteen is good, hygienic, and well-infrastructured.
Faculty: Teachers are friendly with the students and are very encouraging. The course is relevant to our course. The difficulty of the exams is moderate. The pass percentage is above 90%. Good infrastructure with Wi-Fi, girls' hostel, hygienic canteen, friendly teachers, and a 90% pass rate.

    Nice environment around the college.
Placements: Placements are offered in our college, but I don't know the clear information because I still didn't face any placement drive. But the highest package which I heard is 24 LPA and the average package is 3.5 LPA. Maybe 50% of the students are placed, I guess.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is good but only for the systems provided by the college. We often use it. Labs are provided according to schedule, but there are no sufficient classrooms for the students due to the massive increase of students. But the library is good enough, and the ambiance is so good.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are helpful and qualified and knowledgeable, but comparatively the teaching decreased from year to year, I believe. And the course curriculum is relevant, but I wish that still the improvement has to be done. The semester exams are so difficult.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in computer science. The best thing about the course is the programming language. And I wish that things regarding the course should be improved, like programming skills, aptitude, etc. And only once in a year the fest was conducted.

I am not satisfied with the faculty and facilities.
Placements: Above 75% of students are currently placed in college, and 4.5 LPA is the highest package in my college. Accenture, Paltech, etc. are the top recruiters. Still, the placements are going on. Data analyst and software engineer are the top roles offered in my college. Our college is providing AICTE internships.
Infrastructure: The college provides no hostel, and the hostels that are available near the college are below average. Food and facilities are not good. Some hostels do not provide Wi-Fi and Dhobi. Students prefer to come by days scholar; the hostel is worse and the college canteen is also very bad.
Faculty: The teachers in the Computer Science program were generally with MTech, and some of them had industry experience. Their knowledge of current trends and technologies was impressive. But they are not going to explain with perfection, and I am not satisfied with the faculty and curriculum.
Other: I chose computer science and engineering because of my fascination with technology and problem-solving. The rapid advancements in this field promised a dynamic career with numerous opportunities.
