Pros and cons of life at GMC Konni.
Placements: The percentage of students placed in our course, which is MBBS, are those who have scored high in the NEET entrance exam. So, out of some 15-20 lakh students attending the exam, only 18-20 thousand students get admission. Then, again, there are different quotas where the cut-off can vary. The placement chance is almost 90% as our country requires more and more doctors every day. As this is a government college, we are provided with a 1-year internship with a stipend of Rs. 22,000- Rs. 23,000 where the molding of students into doctors takes place. The lowest salary package one can be offered ranges from Rs. 30,000- Rs. 35,000, and the highest salary package offered can vary from Rs. 50,000- Rs. 65,000. With a PG and some experience, the salary can drastically increase. Top recruiting hospitals are those with prolonged working experience and a high number of in- and out-patients. The internship is provided at our own hospital, and all the students who have passed the final year with 50% marks can participate in the internship. Top roles are that of a junior resident, physician, medical officer, etc.
Infrastructure: The existing infrastructure of our college hostel is strong and well-built. Facilities available at the college are a library, smart classrooms, and labs for different subjects. Wi-Fi is available but not to students, each department has its staff rooms. But then again, the college is not still fully built, more buildings are being constructed but not completely built yet. The hostel of our college is top-notch compared to other government medical college hostels. We have a mess hall, and 2 different Wi-Fi modems for each floor, each room is fully furnished with a wooden finish accommodating 3 people per room with each person getting their own chair, study table, cupboard, 1 portion of the almirah, and a bed. Each floor has a total of 8 washrooms and 8 toilets with cleaning staff regularly cleaning both areas. Girls' hostel has an incinerator for each floor. No sorts of ragging are allowed at our premises. Our medical college hospital is only 2-3 minutes away from the hostel on foot. Sports and games are encouraged at our college with daily practice on days other than exam periods. We have a playroom at the hostel where we can play table tennis, carroms, chess, etc., with air-conditioners. The quality of food we receive at the hostel is acceptable and okay, I'd give the mess food a 7/10 for its taste.
Faculty: Faculty members at our college, from the cleaning staff to the professors, are all nice and friendly. All the professors have completed their MBBS and pursued MD/MS in the subjects they teach. All are highly educated in their respective subjects. There are some professors with whom students might be having a hard time getting along, but trust me, that's how it is for every other person and every other course. Students may find themselves crying due to the humiliation faced during a viva session. But we all are surviving it every day, and it's okay because this is not our school system where we used to be the top students. Here, all are toppers, but each one has to face some humiliation during their period of MBBS, one way or the other, and it doesn't matter in the end. Most of the professors are student-friendly and caring. No matter what, they all treat us well only. The quality of teaching is very good as we are made to study through real and visual examples. The practical hours make us understand each disease and its criteria. It helps us in easy understanding and to arrive at a diagnosis faster in the future. Our university exams are conducted annually, and apart from that, we'll be having sessional exams from which our internals will be taken. The difficulty level of the exam varies from moderate to difficult; the amount of preparation one does decides it. Then again, this isn't a school to score full marks. We should be grateful if we get 50%, be happy if we get 60%, and be ecstatic if we get 70% or more. The pass percentage for all exams is 50% of total marks.
Other: I'm one of the first batch students of GMC Konni and I'm currently waiting for my 2nd year university exams. So, to know about the passing out batch, one will have to wait for another 3.5 years. The best thing and the reason why I chose this course is the same is the respect a doctor receives in our society and the ability to help other people. It would've been better if there were more laws and regulations preventing crimes against healthcare workers. Many events are celebrated at our college, and one won't be missing much in that aspect.

Really a good medical college.
Placements: 100 students are allotted per batch. Situated in the midst of many mountains, the most important thing to enjoy here is the scenic beauty that you wake up to every morning. The classes are excellent, with excellent faculty and facilities who are always there for any of our problems.
Infrastructure: The hostels are new and very well furnished, with full facilities. The rooms are spacious, with three in a room. The academic block also has all the facilities for our course. There is a big library on two floors, which is very spacious and refreshing.
Faculty: Faculty members are excellent, providing support and very good classes for us. They help us understand the concept and make us understand the value of studying everything. The faculty members here give more importance to teaching in a clinical way so we are always ready to be in a hospital from the first year on.

Review of Government Medical College, Konni.
Placements: Since the course is MBBS, everyone who passes out could work in casualty and emergency departments; most of them go for MD and MS for government placements and a good salary. Since the 2022 batch is the first batch who are undergoing their 2nd year, we should wait 3 more years to see placement .
Infrastructure: When it comes to infrastructure, it is excellent. Academic blocks have spacious lecture halls and labs. Even though we have a good library with lots of books, it is still less accessed due to staff shortages, but it does affect our academic hostel, which is new, fully furnished, and luxurious, even being under government .
Faculty: Faculty members are well experienced in the field of teaching and clinical experts to rule out the challenges faced by new medical college experts are appointed here for the first year batch of 2023 batch had 100 percent pass first time in history of government medical college .
Other: MBBS allows us to make contributions that value mankind. Improvements should be made based on more hands-on experience than vivid theory.
