The college is the oldest technical institute of North East.
Placements: Most of the diploma-level jobs in Assam are filled by majority of the students from this Institute. Almost 70% students get placed. The highest package is 12 Lacs and the lowest may go down to 2 Lacs. Top recruiting companies: Maruti Suzuki, Wipro, Tata, OIL, etc. Almost 99% of students got internship when applying in companies like OIL, ONGC, Railways, etc.
Infrastructure: The facilities in the hostel are fairly good. Food is good, and the water supply is adequate. Recently, hostels have also been opened for girls. Anyone from outside of Jorhat can opt to stay in hostels instead of spending lots of cash in PG. Field is available for games and sports.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and very experienced. Teaching quality is top-notch. Course curriculum is definitely relevant, as those taught in classes are helpful in industrial applications too. Semesters are easy for those who study well. Pass percentage is almost 95%.

It is an excellent college.
Placements: In our college, placements are below average. In the previous 2–3 years, there were no campus placements. This is due to the post-COVID scenarios. Top recruiting companies like OIL, ONGC, Cummins, etc., visit our campus. The average salary package offered is 2 LPA to 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is more than average. There is an old heritage building and all others are newly constructed buildings. There are two hostels, one for girls and one for boys. The condition of the laboratory and workshop is pretty decent but Wi-Fi is not available.
Faculty: Faculty members are all highly qualified, experienced, and supportive. The course syllabus was reviewed and revised in 2018 to ensure that students are industry-ready, but there is still work to be done on the course curriculum. The semester exams are average. The pass percentage is 90%.
Other: There are 7 branches of engineering in this institute. I show an interest in the mechanical branch. Every year, our college organises cultural festivals.

It provides excellent teachers, average infrastructure, but placements are not good.
Placements: Placements scenario is average in this college. The top recruiting companies are OIL, ONGC, Cummins, and Siemens visit for campus placements, but for the past 2-3 years there have been negligible placements. The average salary offered ranges from Rs 10,000 per month - Rs 15,000 per month if students get placed.
Infrastructure: There are seven departments for seven branches which are all good. This college consists of hostels, a library with a lot of books, two hostels one for boys and one for girls, girls hostel is on the campus, while the boys' hostel is situated at a distance of 1 km. Workshop and laboratories are available, but many machines and equipment are there which does not work.
Faculty: Faculty members are well qualified, friendly, and knowledgeable. There are some topics in the course curriculum which are not relevant anymore. The exams are not hard. The marks are distributed in sessional and theory, where 30% of marks are given through sessional, and students need to submit the home assignment, poster, 2 class tests, and questionnaire.
Other: This college is good compared to the other polytechnic institutes of Assam, one of the best. An institute week is organized every year in April or May where different kinds of competitions or events are held ranging from team sports like football, cricket, and many more to individual events like running, marathon, weight lifting, rubik's cube, and many more events are held. A cultural rally and a fest are organised in the last days of the institute week.

Our college is one of the average government engineering institutes.
Placements: There has been no on-campus placement in the last 2 years due to COVID-19. In the past, companies like OIL, ONGC, Cummins, and Siemens hired some of the students on campus. The package is around 2 to 6 LPA. The training and placement cell is very active. There is a high chance of getting a job after completing the course.
Infrastructure: Our college has only 1 boys' hostel and 1 girls' hostel open. There is a digital classroom available in every branch. The library is good. There is no good place for sports. Laboratories are in moderate condition. Workshops in our college are good. We have a canteen, and drinking water available.
Faculty: The faculty members in our college are very supportive and qualified. Our course curriculum is under the Department of Technical Education, Assam. In a semester, 30% of the marks are taken from internal assessment marks and 70% from end-of-semester examinations. Semester exams are not so hard. The pass percentage is 80% to 90%.
Other: Mechanical and electrical are the top branches of this institute. The government should pay more attention to the development of the college. Institute Week is organised every year by the Student Union. Our college can do more than before.
