So, while the GATE CCMT cutoff is the minimum score required to be considered for admission, the IIEST Shibpur M.Tech merit list is the list of candidates who have actually been selected for admission.

Absolutely dissatisfied because of lack of discipline, security, internet facilities and hostels.
Placements: Placements are average and the total credit goes to the students because after such a bad hostel condition and poor Wi-Fi and internet facility, the students are succeeding. Most of the students try off campus placements which is good but if the administration functions properly the placements can rise many folds.
Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure is really poor having no proper internet facility being available. The students are totally dependent on the mobile internet for their studies. The condition of the washrooms is really old school. I got into the PG hostel and till now I haven’t even seen a caretaker who is responsible for the amenities. They don't even have LAN port in the rooms. The hostel looks like it’s not been looked after since the past 50 years. I didn’t even get a good chair and the beds look like they are going to break down.
Faculty: As far as the engineering part is concerned, the faculty members are really knowledgeable and supportive. The college has a good alumni base, so if you can connect with them through Linkedin, it can be really helpful. They don't allow internships for PG students which is not good as internships can help the students to get real industrial standard exposure.
Other: There is no as such discipline or security in the campus. All the girls and boys are seen moving here and there as couples and smooching even in the middle of the night. I guess the authorities are not much concerned about that aspect.

Our college has a good infrastructure.
Placements: Most students got placed in mass recruits from IT organisations. For master's many students have opted for doctoral research scholar or Ph.D. Coal India came for recruitment for graduates offering a salary package of 10 LPA. Pioneers are made in this university. Hyundai Motors also visited the campus for placements.
Infrastructure: Laboratory and classroom infrastructure is very good. Internet connectivity is available throughout the hostel and campus. This helps while preparing for journals and thesis papers. A good library is available within the premises with a good internet connection.
Faculty: Since it's a deemed university, professors set the question papers. By paying attention in classes, you will be able to score good marks. Professors are very cooperative. Most of the professors are post-doctorates. They helped me during Thesis papers.
Other: Students get selected by giving a GATE examination. Being a graduate in mechanical engineering, I opted for master's in mechanical engineering with specialisation in machine design. Professors are cooperative and help us if we are not able to understand anything. We used to get a stipend of Rs 12,400 per month from the Education Ministry, Government of India.

It is a university to build your life.
Placements: Almost 90% of the students got placed in the course. The highest salary package offered was 8 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3.6 LPA. The average salary package offered was 4.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies of our college were TCS, R & D, CTS, Infosys, IBM, PWC, etc. There were research facilities provided to students in the R & D section of TCS.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college was good. We had sufficient classrooms and laboratories were also provided. High-speed internet with Wi-Fi was available. The library was good, and many books were available. We could collect many books and study in the library at any time. The campus was sufficiently large. Hostels quality was good. There is a hospital inside the campus. Many facilities with sports and games were available.
Faculty: Faculty members were highly qualified and knowledgeable. Almost everyone was top-ranked from the institutes like IITs, NITs, Jadavpur University, Calcutta University, etc. Teachers were always helpful and cleared our doubts at any time. The course curriculum was relevant and make students industry-ready.

I am satisfied because of excellent infrastructure and scope of research work.
Placements: Placements in this course are not that good. Only Vikram Solar visit here every year, and they also don't hire students from this branch on a regular basis. Other companies do not provide suitable jobs for this course. In our batch, students were not selected from campusing. However, with the effort of our renowned faculty members, some students got a chance to do an internship, and from it, some of them were placed. The salary package offered was around 3.25 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our college is mainly a research lab, and the infrastructure provided for pursuing the project work is outstanding. If anyone wants to do the research work in the field of solar photovoltaics and gas sensors, then this is the most suitable lab in eastern India. Free Wi-Fi facilities and good classrooms also make this department the best. The hostel is good, and the quality of the food varies from hostel to hostel. Overall, it provides good food.
Faculty: Teachers here are exceptional, student-friendly and supportive. Visiting faculty members, along with young faculty members, make this department a special one. They are always free to share their invaluable knowledge and experience to the students. The way they guide the students is helpful for both research purpose and for industries.

IIEST is the oldest institute and best where students can learn many things other than engineering.
Placements: Almost 90% of the students got placed in the previous year. In the previous year, the highest salary package offered was 14.5 LPA, while the lowest salary package offered was 6 LPA in the mining department. The average salary package offered in this institute was 6 LPA-7 LPA. Top companies such as Coal India, Tata Steel, Vedanta, etc., recruit students from our college.
Infrastructure: IIEST Shibpur is one of the oldest institutes of India, and it is in the top 3rd rank among NITs. The infrastructure is improving, and hostels are quite good. The entire institute has a Wi-Fi facility, and labs are in very good condition as many new lab machines are available. Few classrooms are very old, but there is one new building in which classrooms are in the very best condition. The library is quite good but not very bad, but many books are not available as per the requirement of students. There is one institute canteen in which food served is better, and the price of the food is affordable. Our institute has one basketball court and two ground ovals and lord where students can play football and cricket. Many indoor games are available in the hostel such as a carrom board, table tennis, etc.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is good, but I don't think it is helpful in the real working industry. The course curriculum is not very relevant so that students can't study about the real industry. So, the course curriculum should be designed in such a way that it may help in the real working industry.
Other: I chose mining engineering because it is very interesting, and almost placements are the best.

Review of IIEST Shibpur - Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology.
Placements: Almost 85% of the students get placed in reputed organisations and companies. The highest salary package offered is 6 LPA. The average salary offered is Rs. 30,000 per month. The lowest salary offered in our department is Rs. 24,000 per month. Companies like Cognizant, TCS, Wipro, Vikram Solar, Agni, are top recruiters. Almost 50% of the students got internships from our course in NICE and Agni.
Infrastructure: There is a free Wi-Fi facility in our department. The lab is also very good in renewable energy science and technology department. Our second-year classrooms are fully air-conditioned. There is Ramanujan library, which is freely accessible. Hostel facility is also available in our college. The quality of the food served is more than average. There is an arrangement of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. There are five canteens, a gym centre, and a swimming pool for interested students. There is a huge playground named Oval.
Faculty: They have some of the best faculty members like Samarjeet Sengupta, Hiranmay Saha. Our departmental faculty members are very good, co-operative, and helpful. They help us in completing our project in M.Tech. Teaching quality is also very good, and there is an arrangement of digital studies. Renewable energy science and technology has a very good future as it's totally based on renewable energy sources.
Other: I have chosen this course as there will be no more fossil fuels in future, so we have to completely depend on renewable energy sources.
