IIESTS is the BEST one can get..!

Placements: For the last few years, mining has a close to 100% placement. The top recruiting companies being Coal India Limited, Vedanta, L&T mining, etc. The training and internship scopes ensure further success as you have industrial exposure. The scope of this department mainly broadens as it is 111 years old starting from 1906.

Value for money if you are confident enough not to depend on placements.

Placements: For our batch, placement was not at all satisfactory. Only 8 out of 30 students got placed. The highest package offered was 4.2 LPA. Notable companies: Hindustan motors (Marketing, company got shut down later on), Future group (HR & Marketing), PHI Learning (Sales) etc. Institute will take full responsibility of the internship placements. However, our senior & super senior batches used to get placed in government organisations. We faced this placement issue due to the unfortunate death of our pl...

IIEST is the place to be if you want to grow in all aspects and develop an attitude for life.

Placements: On the better side of the curve with many placed in core companies especially in mechanical, civil and mining along with the conventional branches like CS and IT. The average across all the branches goes beyond 6 LPA. Major recruiters includes Microsoft, Texas Instruments, L and T, Vedanta, PwC, ZS Associates, MN Dastur and Coal India.

A great MBA institute to gather knowledge but not so great for placements.

Placements: During our tenure, the placement was very bad but we somehow managed to get some job because of the quality of education IIEST provides. The maximum salary was, as far as I remember, near about 2.4 LPA. A few of us all got a good amount of stipend for doing an internship at SBI. There are other companies at which many of our fellow classmates did internships like Tata Tinplate, IOCL etc.

Good placements with good infrastructure and professors will help to build up your career.

Placements: I am a final year student. Most of the student of our batch got placed in various companies (Amazon, GE Digital, SmartPrix, TCS R&D, Microsoft, HSBC, Directi, and some MNCs like Infosys, IBM, CTS, Accenture, Wipro). Nearly 67 percent students are already placed. Highest CTC is offered by Work Applications (32 lakhs per annum). Median salary is 5.15 LPA and weighted median salary is 4.39 LPA. 46 companies have already visited this campus and merely 4-5 offers are there from pool campusing. Ther...

Decent standards well at par with the average and better than the most.

Placements: The final placements in our institute are almost on par with the NITs. They are pretty above average and better than most of the private engineering colleges. With the likes of Amazon, Directi, Texas Instruments, PwC, Deloitte, ZS, MuSigma, Microsoft and many others visiting our campus, you have a pretty good chance of getting associated with big names right at the beginning of your career. But, the opportunities are limited and you have to make the most out of it. On an average, around 65-70% ...

Absolutely dissatisfied because of placement, however faculty and infrastructure were good.

Placements: On an average, the placement was not up to the reputation of the college as mostly IT companies came rather than the core companies. The average salary offered was around 3.5 LPA, the maximum is 6 LPA and the lowest was 2.75 LPA. Most of the IT companies like Infosys, IBM, Wipro, CTS, Accenture and some companies from analytics domain like Mu-sigma, EXL Services, PWC, and HDFC visited the campus. My review on IIEST Shibpur would be divided into the following criteria: Campus Life: Well, this is something that is true in the case of any Engineering college; the 4 years that you spend here will remain with you forever. Same is the case with IIEST Shibpur. On a scale of 10, I would give it 10 without any hesitation! Academic atmosphere: As they say, ‘Where there is will, there is a Way’ holds true in this case. Mining Engineering in among the best departments to choose in IIEST especially if you are placement concerned. Coal India, Vedanta Resources, Joy Mining, Tata Steel and many other companies visit for recruitment. The college was started in 1906. Actually, it is the 1st IIEST in India. Students who are willing to take up higher studies and research work, must join IIEST. The campus is simply awesome.
