This is good place to do graduation as well post-graduation. This is the only college where actually research is going on. Faculty members are good, supportive for projects. HOD’s and lecturers are very hard working and very much conscious about student frame. This institution conducting so many knowledgeable workshops for teacher as well as students. Placement is good, overall good college.

It’s the second best engineering college in West Bengal after Jadavpur University. College fees was 10600 per semester during our time. Now the recent fees is 35000 as college has been upgraded and many new facilities have been added. Many faculties from IITs have been brought after up gradation.

College faculties and facilities are good. Subject content is also good though it requires some improvement considering recent needs in industries. Placement scenario is moderately good. College does not have any student governing body for any kind of activity, which is not good for student's overall development. Hostel life is awesome and everyone should experience that. Overall, I would say it’s a good college to join.

College faculty members and facilities are good. But hostel is not up to the mark as it remains dirty, and sometimes we face water shortage. The college faculty members also live in the same campus and they are very approachable. So, it’s a great opportunity to learn more. But college students do not take part in competitions like other college students do. So, we lack in extracurricular activities.

It is 2nd oldest college of India and one of the most prestigious colleges of our country. Campus is big and very good. Everything is very good about this college but placement team should work more for the better placement of their students. Education quality is very high and most teacher is very friendly with students and try to solve their problem whether related to studies or others.

The best thing about IIEST/BESU is its college life. It’s a huge campus (122 acres). Here hostel life is totally different from any other college in India. After passing out from here you will get a good placement and moreover you will get alumnus base which will really come handy as time passes.

Anyone aspiring for engineering should consider IIEST before choosing other college. It regularly ranks in top 15 engineering colleges in India by any website or any organization. Teaching facility is more or less good. But the most important thing is alumni base.

It is one of the oldest engineering colleges of India. The college is known for its academic excellence. Mechanical Engineering department is around 100 years old here. All machines and equipment work properly. Everyone goes out of here, reaches high position in life.

One of the best things about our campus is its location. Just 20 minutes from the heart of Kolkata, on the bank of the Ganges, it is one of the best places to spend four precious years of your life. The facilities in the campus are pretty good. Though with the sharp increase in batch strength, it will be a bit difficult to give proper accommodation to all. There are not enough hostels for 700+ students. Another good thing is that the mess food in the final and pre-final year hostels are very goo...

A good studying environment, the professors are very co-operative. College provide good placement services. Many researches are being carried out. Students are encouraged to invest both in extra-curricular as well as academic activities. Hostels are good enough, Better Infrastructure. College hosts one of the biggest fests in eastern India. There is a very friendly atmosphere between the juniors & seniors.

This is the best college. The environment and life at BESU is very good. The campus placement and faculty members are getting better after getting national importance. The best environment and life based college in West Bengal. Now its admissions are going on through IIT JEE for BE. Electrical engineering, mechanical, computer science, electronics and mining has very good faculty members and placement stati...

If you want study Civil Engineering and you are not lucky enough to get into the IITs then I think this is the best Institute, where you can learn Civil Engineering. The Professors are well qualified and put their whole efforts to develop a clear concept of the subject. Talking about placements, I think if you pass exams with decent marks and have a little bit knowledge of your department, you'll surely get placed. This year about 12+ companies visited (talking about the core companies) our camp...

Satisfied with the quality of professors, infrastructure and campus life

Placements: Before becoming IIEST Shibpur, it was good for placements in both B.Tech and M.Tech. But after becoming IIEST in 2014, the placement scenario was the worst in condition. Very few core companies are coming now. But still, software job options are there for B.Tech. But M.Tech placement condition is very bad. Only 20 to 30% got a job from campus placements while others are preparing for gate and IES. Nowadays, they are going for bank exams as well.

Not a very good one. Horrible teaching staff. If you want to do well here, you need to do it on your own. Placements are not up to the mark and the infrastructure is also not so good. Teachers have recently shown a high degree of callousness and ignorance regarding student's welfare.

At the time of joining, I had the knowledge that this college has excellent faculty and placement opportunities, besides being less expensive. But the true colors of the institute revealed after a year or so. The faculty is very poor (exceptions being there) and no attention is paid on improving the current placement scenario which is not up to the mark.

This college also has dual degree program which most of the prestigious colleges does not offer. The college facilitates a student in science along with engineering.

This Institute is one of a kind in its country. Under the Congress government many IIESTs were supposed to be initiated. Many of them were simply converted to IITs instead. As there is a very well known IIT just in the vicinity (namely. IIT Kharagpur) so it was upgraded to an IIEST instead. The faculty here is highly qualified. But sometimes the teaching is not up to par and they lapse into Bengali. Anti ragging rules are strictly followed (sometimes it is the seniors who are scared of the junio...

My college has a rich heritage and a well-established global alumni base. The college has a very well maintained campus. The college really has a lot to offer to its students in terms of inspirations from its alumni and guidance from the professors. The college has risen from the shackles of political agendas and intra-college disputes to create a calm environment. It is definitely in an upward spiral and would take some time to establish its former levels of placements. Judging the current ma...
