B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Review of IIT Kanpur - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: Amazing placements are here. It's the best college for mechanical engineering students all over India. The average package is around 24 lacs, while the highest is always above one crore. Also, most of the students get internships in their third year, which leads to PPO.
Infrastructure: Amazing hostels, beautiful, lush green campus, etc. are there. The infrastructure is very great. We have a huge library and the lecture hall complex here. The mess food is also very good here. The medical facilities are very great. We have each and every sport in our college.
Faculty: The faculty here are very well qualified, highly knowledgeable and experienced. But sometimes its hard to learn from them. The course curriculum is very great as it directly makes students industry-ready. The exams are held very often and have a very high level of difficulty.

Absolutely satisfied with the college and its academics.
Placements: Around 70-80 percent of students get placed. Core sector companies do come, but the salary offered ranges around 8-12 LPA. There are plenty of opportunities in non-core sectors, and you can get into various non-core roles in analytics, IT, and consulting. If you are not too poor, then you can easily get placed.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is just awesome. Although some rooms are small, it's above average. The mess food is okay, if not good. In the first year, you are supposed to study common subjects like physics, engineering mathematics, basic programming, and engineering drawing. In the second year onward, you read your own core subjects.
Faculty: The faculties are mostly good, but some are really bad. Mostly, if you reach out to them for help, they will reply positively. In IITK, the course curriculum is one of the most flexible ones. Around 50 percent of your coursework allows you to choose, and you can take courses from other departments as well.

College culture is good.
Placements: 75% of the students were placed in my course. The highest package was 55 lakh, the average package was 20 lakh, and the lowest package was 12 lakh. Tata Steel, Microsoft, and Raymond's are the top recruiters. 70% of the students got internships from the course at companies like Tata Steel and Raymond. Core management positions are offered.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided are extremely efficient, as we have separate labs for particular courses and separate buildings for our departments, for example, the TA 211 lab and the TA 212 lab. Wi-Fi provided is wonderful. The labs are clean and the library is also very clean. The facilities in our hostel are average; everything is good except for the laundary system.
Faculty: Teachers are extremely qualified in their fields. They teach with efficient methods and the quality is top-notch. IIT Kanpur is known for its academics. I think the curriculum is okay. And it does make the student industry ready. The exams are quite difficult but it mostly depends on the professors. Pass% is 60%.
Other: It is a very interesting branch. The labs are quite interesting. Everything is good. We have ANTARAGNI our cultural fest and TECHKRITI our technical fest. And the annual sports fest UDGHOSH.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2027
4.6
4Placements4Infrastructure5Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
Excellent infrastructure and facilities, well-defined curriculum with great faculty.
Placements: In the civil department, there are 104 registered students, out of which 72 students are placed. This results in a placement rate of 69.2%. Some recruiting companies include Microsoft India, Google India, Amazon, Zomato, Tata Projects Limited, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Merilytics, American Express, and Reliance Industries Limited. The top roles offered are IT Analyst, Senior Business Analyst, Market Analyst, Software Engineer, Graduate Engineer Trainee, and Manager. The highest package is 96 LPA, the lowest package is 10 LPA, and the average package is 16.3 LPA. Approximately 10 to 12 percent of students got internships in companies like Microsoft India, Cisco, Standard Chartered, and American Express.
Infrastructure: The faculties in the civil department are excellent, and the infrastructure is also very good. However, there is no Wi-Fi in the civil department labs. The classroom infrastructure is impressive, with high-speed Wi-Fi available in classrooms and the P.K. Kelkar Library, which has a peaceful environment and a large collection of books. The seating available for study is more than sufficient and comfortable. The quality of facilities in the hostel is above average, and the food quality in my hostel is generally very good. There is a small gym area in my hostel, but not in other hostels. Medical facilities are extremely good, and sports and games are also excellent, with coaches available for all sports. The coaches ensure that every sports student practices regularly.
Faculty: The faculty is extremely good, helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is also excellent, and the course curriculum is relevant. It prepares students for the infrastructure industry and also enhances their skills in other areas. There are sufficient courses available for knowledge about computer science so that students can build a strong foundation to apply in tech companies. The semester exams are very difficult, and while there is relative grading, the pass percentage in hard courses is approximately 20%. This is why some students receive F grades, and it can be challenging for an average student to achieve a CGPA above 7.
Other: I chose this course because of my JEE rank. The best thing about civil engineering is that there are many more government vacancies available compared to other branches. I don't have any particular improvements I wish to see in my course as the curriculum is sufficient. However, the percentage of placements has recently decreased compared to past years due to fewer infrastructure companies participating in campus placements, which has led students to apply off-campus. I request those companies to participate in campus placements. The events, fests, campus crowd, and extracurricular activities are managed by students, which improves connectivity among students. The campus is surrounded by greenery, and there is negligible pollution. Some scholarships are provided by the college based on students' financial conditions and merits.

Our college infrastructure and faculties are excellent. Placements are overall very good.
Placements: Overall placement in our branch are less because very few companies comes for our branch students that's why. Students go to research line and most students go to technical job by learning coding because some students don't want to research or may be some financial problem.
Infrastructure: About facilities and infrastructure of any branch in IITK are excellent. We get full 5G speed wifi inside and outside classrooms, labs and library. Our classrooms are excellent with comfortable chairs and AC's inside classrooms. About hostel, it's also very good. our hostels also includes very nice mess, canteen, salon and grocery shops also.
Faculty: Our professors are highly qualified from different foreign countries, no doubt about their knowledge. We have quiz every alternate weeks. Professors also conduct presentations, assignments. We have mid semester exam at the middle of the course and end semester exam at the end of the course.

The reality of IIT Kanpur.
Placements: In my department, approximately 90% of placements occur on campus. The highest package this time offered was 85 LPA, the lowest was 10 LPA, and the average was 19 LPA. Dr. Reddy and Axxella are the main recruiters during the placements in our course. The internship number is not so good but around 50% of students get the internship. I have no idea about the role but it depends on which area students want to go to.
Infrastructure: In my department, there is a separate chemical engineering building and lab, which are similar to industries but on a very small level. In the labs, you will find too many desktops, and Wi-Fi is always there and we have Asia's second-largest library in IIT Kanpur. The hostel quality is good but it remains good in the first year only and after the first year, the quality of the rooms is not so good. And in every hall, there is a canteen and a gym. In the whole of IIT Kanpur, there is only one medical center.
Faculty: The faculty and teachers are very helpful but not all of them. There is always some teacher who does not push the students. Most of the professors are well-educated and good. Teaching done on the smart board so teaching quality is very good. Yes, the courses that we have studied can make one 90% ready to join the industry. Semester exam are always very tough in IIT Kanpur and very rigorous.
Other: I chose this course on the basis of my rank and the main thing is that this college is close to my hometown so I chose this course here. The campus life is good; you will find fests, clubs and sports in which you can participate according to your hobby.
