On JEE Main Cutoffs

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Amazing hostel life of JEC.
Placements: 75 percent of students were placed from our college. The highest package of JEC is 11 LPA and the lowest is 3.5 LPA. In our college many different and big recruiting companies provide placement to the students of JEC, with the highest package from famous companies like TCS, Mahindra and Infosys.
Infrastructure: Hostel life of JEC is the best. Hostel campus is full of greenery and a playground is there where students play cricket, football and other outdoor game. Hostel facility is very good with good infrastructure. Mess facility is average. In my college, the newest branch is Artificial intelligence. Sports and games are provided by the college committee. NCC DEPARTMENT is present in my college. There is a beautiful lake behind our called Robertson lake.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and they are highly educated with lots of knowledge. They teach us like our friends. They support us to get good placement. Many sports programs are organised in our college like vnmct, Aavahan, inter College competition, etc.
Other: College provides many scholarships for the students and gives them financial support. Many extracurricular activities are held for the students so that they can improve themselves.

Average rating for placement. It is the best for personality learning and academic studies.
Placements: In electrical engineering, the placement rate has been low for the past 4 to 5 years. But I think it will improve and go above average in the future. The highest salary package offered at campus is 45 LPA, and one student got 1 crore LPA off-campus. Core branches are more suitable for government jobs. So, students have plenty of time to prepare or do internships in government sectors.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good, but it's old. However, they are renovating it. The campus has facilities that an average student can afford, like the library, parking, canteen, on-campus post office, SBI banking, an ATM, etc.
Faculty: I'll give a 5-star rating, especially for the teachers. They are very supportive, helpful, and well-knowledgeable since it’s a government college. Semester exams are average. Sometimes course will be completed and we have to prepare for the entire course, which affects our GPA.
Other: This college is one of the oldest and most well-known in India. It has a great history of being a leader in technical institutions. College management also plays an important role in maintaining its legacy.

Review of Jabalpur Engineering College.
Placements: In core branches, the placement record is very low, but in CS and IT, companies like TCS, IBM place students. The highest on-campus package is 10 LPA, and the average package is 3.5 LPA. Most of the students are placed in the role of GETs, although the companies allow all branches to sit for the placement, very few students clear the cutoff.
Infrastructure: Books in the library are old and not kept well. The library is very big, but the books mentioned in the syllabus are very few in number. Labs for core branches like EE have old machines which do not work properly, and the lab periods are not taken seriously.
Faculty: The teachers are cooperative as most of the faculty is guest faculty, and they listen to the students. The curriculum is updated regularly in accordance with AICTE, but the teachers' notes are not sufficient for clearing the exams. Students have to prepare by themselves through YouTube or online classes. The exams are not too difficult, and any student can clear the exam if they study with average dedication.

Decent college with very low fees.
Placements: In my course, almost 30% of students are placed every year. Most of the companies that come to the campus are either service-based or core companies. The average package that students receive is 4-5 LPA. The college doesn't provide internships, and the students have to find them on their own.
Infrastructure: The hostel life at JEC is pretty decent, and the hostels, even after being very old, are in normal conditions. The mess food is average, and different festivals are celebrated in the hostel. Ragging is banned in hostels. The college departments have a library, a water cooler, and Wi-Fi, but the conditions of fans and benches in all classrooms are not that good.
Faculty: The faculty members are well-versed and qualified individuals in their field. Most of the faculty members are helpful and try to cover the syllabus as properly as possible. The course curriculum is a little outdated, but still it is relevant for the industry, but the college needs to focus on labs and a more practical approach, as most of the lab classes are of no use for students. The semester exams are conducted in a fair manner every semester, and the difficulty level is moderate. Students need to pass all the exams and practicals to be considered pass. In theory, exams passing marks are 22 out of 70.
Other: I chose this course because I had a deep interest in electronics and wanted to contribute and learn in this field as much as possible. The only thing I would improve about my course is the lab classes so that the students not only get theoretical knowledge but practical knowledge as well. The campus life is below average in this college. No fests are conducted. Only an annual sports event is conducted. There are different clubs like raag, danonjec, etc. for students interested in the creative fields.

Infrastructure is devastating, but value for money and good for core branches.
Placements: The percent of students placed is not really cleared by the departments or even the college itself. But I heard from seniors that no companies had visited JEC last year, which was shocking for me also. However, students are proactive, and they usually get internships on their own; even internship offers are thrown by HODs in the common groups.
Infrastructure: JEC hostels are almost free; they charge Rs. 1200-2400/- per year for every category. There are no Wi-Fi facilities as such, but you can have your personal router. The hostel buildings are average and have a mess for food. Games are also arranged by seniors and are very active.
Faculty: Teachers are really qualified, and most of them are really helpful. The teaching quality depends on students; teachers teach as and how deep students want to learn. I have no complaints about teachers and faculty. Our department's HOD is really strict, and she is really knowledgeable.
Other: JEC is definitely a value-for-money college. You have to pay Rs. 23,400/- for a year. And if you fall into that category, you get enough scholarship from the state government to pay.

From my perspective, the overall performance of JEC is below average.
Placements: The placement scenario at the college is quite poor, with a maximum of 10 percent of students getting placed in the 2024 graduation year. Most of the companies are from core sectors like electrical and mechanical, and there is not a conducive environment for computer science or IT students.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is average, with some department buildings being 70 years old. The Wi-Fi facility is good, but the library does not meet modern standards. The canteen is average, and medical facilities are weak. Game facilities are also average, and there is no significant sports festival to support games.
Faculty: The curriculum at Jabalpur Engineering College is also average. Many subjects have outdated syllabi, such as the subject "Microprocessor and Microcontroller," which teaches about older processors like the 8086, not modern 12nm processors. Overall, the syllabus is rated poorly from my perspective.
Other: There are several events organized by college groups and teams, including sports festivals like "Aavahan," a full-fledged gaming festival, "VNMCT," a night cricket tournament, "VVDFT," a football tournament, etc. Additionally, there is an organization run by the college named "Carvan" that helps teach orphaned students.
