Q:   Question: How is the course curriculum for B.E. / B.Tech at Jyothy Institute of Technology - JIT?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

    Structure

    * The course curriculum at JIT is designed by VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University), and all colleges under VTU are expected to follow it.
    * According to some students, the course curriculum is good, but others feel that it could be improved by focusing more on practical knowledge than theoretical knowledge.

    Teaching Style

    * Faculty members use various teaching techniques, such as digital and chalkboard methods, to explain concepts.
    * Teachers provide guidance and support to students, helping them build necessary skills.
    * However, some students have reported that some faculty members lack knowledge and teaching skills.

    Practical Knowledge

    * While the course curriculum covers both theory and practice, some students feel that there is room for improvement in terms of practical knowledge.
    * Industry exposure is limited, and students need to work individually to gain hands-on experience.

    Assessments

    * Semester exams are conducted by VTU, and the pass percentage varies depending on the college and the student's performance.

Jyothy Institute of Technology known as JIT.
Placements: According to the 2023 placement, our college had given a 93 percent placement record. Also, 10+ top companies and 30+ smaller companies arrived for campus placements. The maximum salary package offered by recruiters was 14.3 Lacs per annum. We may also get internship opportunities of up to 6 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: I'm really tired of the transportation system of my college. My friends and I run after the bell rings to reserve our seats on the college bus. Sometimes our college buses break down halfway, which results in unnecessary tension for students during examinations and practicals.
Faculty: The teachers are very dedicated, as they conduct some extra classes and courses during holidays. They also conduct special classes for students with arrears. They conduct tests daily instead of taking regular classes. Sometimes, they ask us to concentrate on important university questions to pass the examinations.

Overall, dissatisfied with the placement, faculty, and environment.
Placements: Almost 10 percent got placed in below-average packages. If you talk about the highest package, the people who got it were approximately 33, but that too was outside the campus. They will say they did campus recruitment but that is not the truth. The recruiting process is so bad no companies are coming if they are coming they will take 1 or 2 from all and that to waste placement criteria either influence or something. The average package is below 2 lacs; they have placed some people in non-it with 10 to 15k for more than 60 students to show there record. I feel it's a very bad college to go to. Spending lakhs of rupees and getting cons in our pockets. Overall, the placement is bad. I studied computer science in engineering. Only 5 percent got internships; the rest just did some projects, copied and pasted the certificate, and showed it. The people who have talent and potential didn't get any opportunities to show up or attend an interview.
Infrastructure: There is no Wi-Fi in the hostel Food is horrible and rates are coming in the kitchen. I stayed for the first year, then shifted to PG because there was no internet and food was wasted. Classrooms are average and the library is also there but does not fulfill all people's needs. There are so many gatherings but the spaces are very small. If we talk about the canteen, the canteen is so small that people cannot fit approximately 80 chairs and tables, but the total attendance is almost 1000. How do you do lunch in that much space? Labs are there but the faculty don't teach the program; they just show it to the projector and execute it. Also, in the Arduino or microcontroller lab, they don't teach properly; they just try to finish the portion and are less concerned about understanding. For our batch, they didn't finish the portion and simply took an existing survey for all the subjects and if you didn't sign or give feedback, they would blackmail you, like criminal behavior. All faculty will behave as though we are in kindergarten.
Faculty: The teachers were not helpful; they were just qualified by degree but not by knowledge. Except for 10–20 percent of the faculty, all are just worried about the ID card and our physical awareness rather than teaching or delivering the subject on time. They rarely care about anything and just try to finish the portion by reading newspapers and slides. The faculty's behavior is not good with people. My overall experience is mental torture by satisfying their needs. If they have not been taught properly, they will take an exist survey, or for all the work they will be treated like criminals by blackmailing. I have a screenshot of group chat, like how they blackmail us to satisfy there needs. The VTU course curriculum is relevant but the syllabus is too much. There were unnecessary topics that needed to be studied, and there were a lot of changes required to modify the syllabus and then release it with a new syllabus. The pass percentage is 35 but overall, 40 is required to pass the subject. The semester exams were like board exams, like 12 and 10, because the syllabus was tough.
Other: Overall, I am not suggesting this college to anyone. I know I am speaking so negatively about my college but this is the reality. I don't want to spoil someone's dream by wasting opportunities and facilities like placement. Placement is more of a concern. If the company is not coming, you cannot place it outside, as there is a lot of competition. So I will suggest don't go to JIT; it will be a waste of money .

Review of Information Technology engineering from the Jyothy engineering college.
Placements: At our institute, 30–40% of the students get placements in this course. The average package offered at the college was between 3 and 4 LPA. The top recruiters at this college were Infosys, IBM, Accenture, Deloitte, Genpact, etc. The top roles offered in our course were developers, engineers, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college has a good infrastructure for students. The facilities offered at our college were of good quality. The college has Wi-Fi, labs, a library, a canteen, etc. facilities for the students. The college has hostel facilities for the students too. Sports facilities were available for the students.
Faculty: The faculty of the college were qualified and knowledgeable. All the teachers are supporting students in all their doubts. The course curriculum followed at the college was relevant and made students industry-ready. Semester exams at our college were not hard to pass at all.

Absolutely satisfied, as I feel it is worth the money I pay for it.
Placements: INR 43 LPA was the highest package, and TCS was the top recruiting company. The job roles offered were mainly internships, with stipends ranging from INR 5,000 to INR 15,000. I am in the field of information science, and our seniors mainly focus on getting into DevOps and software development.
Infrastructure: The boys hostel is on campus, but the girls hostel is 10 kilometers away, and a college bus comes and picks them up every day. The girls hostel is not nice, according to a few of my friends. The boys hostel is nice, and they get fresh air as the campus is surrounded by trees and gardens and is located outside the city, whereas the girls hostel is within the city.
Faculty: Teachers are some really good people; it is affiliated with VTU, and all semester exams are under the VTU board. The teachers are strict when it comes to exams, and exams are moderate as I am in my first year. The labs are not so well equipped but are feasible to some extent.

Faculty: Our teachers are supportive. They encourage us to participate in events. They conduct weekly and monthly tests. They provide good notes. They make us work on model papers. They use smart classrooms to teach us. Semester exams are easy because of lectures.

    Admission FAQs

Q:   Is B.E. / B.Tech at Jyothy Institute of Technology - JIT worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

Is BE/BTech at Jyothy Institute of Technology (JIT) worth the investment?

From the reviews and ratings, it appears that investing in a BE/BTech at Jyothy Institute of Technology may not be the best option for several reasons:

    * Placement records: While some students reported decent placement records, others mentioned that the college's placement percentages are low, and the highest salary package offered is around 7 LPA.
    * Facilities: Reviews indicated poor hostel conditions, limited Wi-Fi access, and mediocre food options.
    * Teaching staff: Although some faculty members are knowledgeable, others lack sufficient teaching experience and qualification.
    * Course relevance: The course curriculum may not be entirely relevant to industry requirements, leading to a mismatch between academic preparation and job expectations.
    * Infrastructure: Some reviewers felt that the college's infrastructure, particularly the canteen and hostel facilities, requires improvement.

On the positive side, the college seems to have a good reputation among students who appreciate its green campus, friendly faculty, and regular events and activities.

However, considering these concerns, it's essential to weigh the pros and cons before making an informed decision about investing in a BE/BTech at Jyothy Institute of Technology.
