Q:   What are the various factors that determine NIFT cut off?

A:

NIFT cutoff depends on variables like: seat matrix, category of the candidate, total applications, category, Common Merit Rank (CMR) of the candidate in NIFT 2025, and the popularity (or ranking) of the institute. If any of these variables changes, the cut-off would also change. For instance, if the number of applicants goes up, the cut off would also go up. On the contrary, if the number of applicants is low, the cut-off would stay on the lower side. Candidates planning to appear in the NIFT 2025 exam may consult the previous years cut-of for the exam to get an idea as to what is a safe score or admission. When checking the cutoff, it is important to however refer to ones own category.

My experience in NIFT has opened my mind.
Placements: So people who choose the knitwear course in NIFT depend on the rank they've scored and their category, as there is a reserved category besides general. A lot of top recruiting companies come since it's India's top fashion college, like Puma, Nike, Adidas, and more. Almost 85% of students get recruited. The starting roles are mostly designers, as far as I've heard from Nift students I know.
Infrastructure: The college isn't very big; our auditorium is a little smaller compared to other branches, but our college is one of the top three NIFTs that have good placements, equipment, and faculty, which is a great advantage. I don't know much about the hostel, but as far as I've heard, the rooms are small, and you have to share with a roommate that they assign to you. There's a curfew at 9:30, and after the first year, you need to vacate.
Faculty: In my opinion, the faculty is good, and I wish more practical visuals were shown for a better understanding of everything, but it's okay. The courses are very relevant, and we have specializations in sportswear and lingerie wear. Semester exams aren't that difficult, but it's always better to do your work ahead of time, and the pass percentage is 50%.
Other: Nothing more to add, but I liked fashion because I enjoy styling myself in new outfits, which is why I chose NIFT. The only thing I would like to improve is if the faculty were a bit more friendly and understanding sometimes and not partial to their favorites. We have one fest a year called Spectrum, which is fun, and scholarships are provided, as mentioned on the NIFT page itself. Extracurricular activities are also available, and we have clubs where we can choose our favorite subjects.

The best opportunity to enter the fashion industry is through college.
Placements: The placements in college vary from year to year; usually, about 90% of students get placed, but it's not always through college placements. The course offers various understandings of various subjects like production marketing, management, merchandising, and much more. You get to learn the back end of the fashion industry.
Infrastructure: The hostel is like any other hostel you'll find in college, although the infrastructure isn't very good and seems old. The rooms are kept clean and cleaned regularly as well. You have to share with 3 or four people, depending on what room you get. Obviously, it's a different experience when it comes to having fun with your friends.
Faculty: We have three exams each semester. Assignment 1-30 marks Assignment 2 is for 30 marks and our final jury is for 40 marks. This is how the academic calendar works. The exams are highly based on creativity so it's a difficult and different world to navigate Sometimes teachers might like your work, sometimes they might not.
Other: It's a fun campus where you get to meet people from all over the country. It's a mini-India itself. You get to make friends of different ages and understand everyone's unique qualities. The college has two festivals around the year: one is spectrum, which is held on its own campus every even semester, whereas converge is held in the odd semester on different campuses around the country.

The campus is very positive.there are lot spots and nice paintings everywhere
Placements: The placements were really bad . Due to change in policy we only had option to select 5 companies.and 4 companies that I applied did not even showed up.the placement scenes were good food FC students.most of the companies came for UI/UX designers and store managers
Infrastructure: The hostel is decent.and they close the gate by 12:00 only.the food is not really good.but you can get food from shops outside the campus.and the hostel is only provided to first year students.later that you will have to shift pg or hostel.there is nice balcony and cherry blossom kinda view.
Faculty: The teacher's are friendly.it's more of a self study kind of situation.there is no text book or anything to refer.Textile design department teachers very kind and approachable.they are always ready to help the students anytime.and give decent marks to everyone
Other: We had atleast 3 programs in a week.

Review of Bachelors in Textile Design from the NIFT Bangalore.
Placements: This college is one of the best for pursuing design courses. There are strong placement alumni who coordinated with the students for their placements. The average package offered at the college was between 4-6 LPA. Companies like Reliance, Tata Lifestyle, Resham, Puma, Bewakoof, etc. are recruiting.
Infrastructure: NIFT Bangalore had a good infrastructure for textile design. There were proper labs with all types of necessary machines for the students hands-on practice. At the college, all kinds of facilities were available for the students. The college has developed labs, a library, a canteen, Wi-Fi, sports, medical, etc. facilities for the students. A hostel was also provided to the students. The food was good to eat.
Faculty: The faculty of the college was really supportive and helpful to the students. Teachers were experienced in the field of design. All the teachers at the college were qualified and knowledgeable. They were giving good-quality teaching to the students. The course curriculum of NIFT was relevant and it made the students industry-ready. Exams at the college were not hard to pass.

NIFT Bangalore is an excellent institution.
Placements: In my Masters of Fashion Management MFM batch at NIFT Bangalore, about 85% students were successfully placed. The highest package offered was around 12 Lacs per annum, while the lowest was around 4 Lacs per annum, with a package of around 7 Lacs per annum. Top recruiting firms include Titan, Fabindia, Fossil and HiDesign. About 70% of students got internships with companies like Tommy Hilfiger, Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors. Roles range from accessory designers to product developers and merchandisers.
Infrastructure: NIFT Bangalore offers excellent infrastructure for accessory design courses. The department has modern labs, spacious classrooms and a well-equipped library with relevant resources. Wi-Fi connectivity has high-speed throughout the campus. Hostel facilities are satisfactory with clean accommodation and adequate facilities. Messes and canteens provide decent quality food and medical facilities are readily available on campus. Additional, sports and games facilities promote extracurricular activities and overall well-being.
Faculty: The faculty members of our department are highly qualified and experienced professionals who are helpful and knowledgeable. They provide valuable insight and guidance, contributing to the overall learning experience. The course curriculum is carefully designed to align with industry requirements so that students are well-prepared for the workforce after graduation. Semester exams are hard but fair process and no cheating is allowed, motivating students to strive for excellence. The pass percentage is above 92%.
